In this video, Sequoiah @projecttreecollard will share some of her favorite varieties of tomatoes to grow in hot dry climates. Where temperatures can soar and stay 100 to 110 degrees for weeks at a time, tomatoes face a number of challenges. Come hear some pros and cons of some of the tomato varieties. Sequoiah has been growing tomatoes in hot dry California climates for 25 plus years.
Sequoiah is a former urban homesteader and now a rural homesteader on a few acres in Grass Valley, CA. Her business ‪@projecttreecollard‬ has been propagating and breeding tree collards and other perennials for the last 8 years. Prior to this, Sequoiah was a garden consultant and designer in the SF Bay Area.

I'd like to order some collards trees and give it a try again. The other order didn't survive. I think I will order the collards green trees in the pots.

I loved this video! I was so pleasantly surprised to hear your recommendations on other than Tree Collards. I've had such good fortune with them that I intend to grow these five varieties. I have two questions: 1. You said Tiger Blush, but the text on screen was Blush Tiger. I assume it is Tiger Blush because it is less likely that you made a mistake talking about something you love, and more likely that it was a typing/formatting thing. 2. Do you sell seeds for these, or should I search Baker Creek and others for them? If you sell them, I would prefer to buy them from you. I love supporting your business, as your information on these videos is so helpful. Clear, concise, and most useful! ----------------- I just went to Baker Creek and found them all. I think I got one answer; they sell Blush Tiger. But, they did not have Sungold Cherry Tomatoes, but they did have Sungold Select II which they say, ""is a selection from the regular Sungold tomato, sent to us by Reinhard Kraft of Germany. This is one of the tastiest orange cherry tomatoes out there!""

yeah...online some nurseries say Tiger Blush and some say Blush Tiger...I'm not sure which is "correct" because 1/2 of us are saying it backwards lol!

@@projecttreecollard I'm noticing that things like that happen from time to time. Thanks for getting back to me on this. I crossed my 2 year mark last July 11th. My first year tomato plants were a total disaster. This year I got slightly better results, as my soil is improving. I am greatly encouraged that next season will be amazing! Thanks, in part, to you!

Are all your tomato plants in full sun and/or partial shade? In my 9b zone in August we've consistently had 85-95+ temperatures and the plant leaves scorched. Had a great tomato harvest weeks ago, but not looking so good now.

one of the next videos will be tips for growing tomatoes in hot dry climates. These are in full sun under 50% shade cloth. No sunburned leaves or tomatoes this year!
