I know this is an older video… but I’m doing a deep dive on your channel since I’m at home sick - yay but boo! but yay! But those mascara wands are also great after you have unpicked, to grab the thread out of the fabric too

I know this is an old video sorry for my late arrival lol but can you possibly do a video on when/how to oil your machine?

There are so many different models of machines out there... the newer machines don't require a lot of oiling. I recommend taking your machine in to be serviced about every 2-3 years depending on how much you use it. Let the tech do the oiling and a good deep clean on your machine. It's worth the cost... because if you do it yourself and it doesn't go well.... well, don't ask me how I know lol

What a great idea. I use a high quality 1.5” nylon bristle paint brush. The long bristles are flanged and pick up lots of stuff. I like this tool idea (wand) particularly for applying lubrication after cleaning. I also use air compressor for blow out. Thank you for sharing. P.S. the man in your life who tinkers could also use these on projects! Update: I bought these, and I love them.

Loved the video! What is the sticker with the lines on the bed of your machine? Looks interesting and quite helpful.

It was actually a stitch guide that I designed myself and sold for a period of time. I'm sorry, it isn't currently for sale 🥴

This is a great idea..Thanks for the suggestion! I’ve been using an old blush brush and the small brush that came with my machine.

@@ISeeStarsQuilting I have a good habit: I clean up my sewing machine after I use everyday! So, I thought my sewing machine is pretty clean for sure. For some reason, I just can't find the little brush another day, this drives my crazy, so I search on KZbin of how to clean sewing machine, then I found you. I ordered the little brush right way and use it the first time the day before yesterday. OMG! OMG! OMG! What a revolutionary solution!!!!! I used 5 stitches cleaned up my sewing machine! IT CAN REACH OUT EVERY LITTLE CORNER AND SPACE INSIDE OF THE SEWING MACHINE! I hardly write anything to anyone, but when I used it the second time, yesterday, I thought I need to write to you a big THANK YOU!!!!!

How often and how do you oil your machine? Thank you!

I get my machine serviced every 2 years and let them do a full clean and oil at that time. I don't oil it in between, but my sewing is split between a few different machines

Do you change the needle each time you clean your machine? I am off to clean my Janome.
@ISeeStarsQuilting
@ISeeStarsQuilting 3 жыл бұрын
Hey Carol! I usually change my needle at the start of every large-ish sized project I'm working on. Its recommended about every 10-12 hours of sewing is a good time to change your needle. A medium/large sized quilt with piecing, quilting etc is roughly about that time. It isn't exact science but it helps me remember to start fresh on each project.

Be careful with some machines. I also have.a Janome but it has bar across the bobbin area. It connects to a spring located about the 5 o’clock position in relation to the bobbin (but deeply buried) that if bumped wrong will cause your machine to need a trip to the shop. Ask me how I know! (I also bought 100 of them in pink)

I don't think you are ever supposed use canned air in your sewing machine

You're right. If you ask any machine repair specialist, they will advise against it with the reasoning that it CAN push dust further into the machine.
