Another cool video. This is a side of biking that most people don't give enough credit to. Awesome work, GMBN.

Any chance of a Marc B bike check? The new Scott's , particularly his Gambler, look amazing, so it would be cool to see how he likes his set up from a racer's point of view. Great vids, keep them coming boys!

I was looking into buying some tools as i am a home mechanic and have just started mountain biking. Not sure what to invest in first, as i have a small budget. Any thoughts?
@ThefulOdie5 жыл бұрын
Logan Wiebe in my opinion, get a proper torque wrench with bits in the common sizes. Good cable cutters (bike specific) and some good brushes for cleaning your bike. Then you can buy new stuff every once in a while, like wrenches you don’t need every day. But always remember: if you buy tools, buy expensive tools once, so you don’t have to buy cheap tools twice.

Probably not relevant to you anymore, but for anyone faced with the same question, BUY THE DAMN KNIPEX PLIERS WRENCH!!! Holy hell, i´ve been wrenching on my own downhill bikes for about 15 years and after discovering them i question my whole life. They are that good at doing ....well everything really. Also, some good cable cutters, and also some WERA L-keys (hex plus!). The L-keys must be WERA, as the hex plus feature will have you strip less bolts and if you manage to round a bolt out, chances are these will still be able to grip. Nothing better than those keys.

Sorry to say the comment about the torque wrench being held anywhere but the middle of the grip and having the correct torque is dead wrong. I proved this much to my surprise in a calibration lab with my own torque wrench. Intuitively it should make no difference, but when actually measured, hand position is extremely important. I didn't believe it until I saw it for myself and I was shocked to say the least. Ever since then I have been very critical of my hand position whenever I use a torque wrench.
@curtisbowman61995 жыл бұрын
That's a cam style torque wrench in the video, not the typical click style. They're designed specifically to eliminate user error such as hand position on the handle.
@rcg95733 жыл бұрын
Hand position does not matter on a Cam type torque wrench because the linkages are fully independent. You most definitely were not testing a Cam type in the lab.
@lobuxracer3 жыл бұрын
@@curtisbowman6199 Actually, no, that's precisely the kind of wrench I was using. Cam and spring. As I said, I was shocked that hand position made a difference. The calibration tool doesn't lie.
