I have been using these same jigheads with my trout magnets for a few months and they work great, I really like them paired up with the EPF swim as well. I bought a few packs of them because the pond close to where I work is full of snags and I lose a few setups everytime I fish there. Great video!!

The Trout Magnet's shad dart jig head is designed to be balanced with the Trout Magnet body so that it falls horizontally in the water. This horizontal fall is a big part of what makes Trout Magnets work so well. Never tried with these jig heads, but I wonder if the added weight on the head puts them into a dive on the fall. The Trout Magnet jig also has a small barb on the hook to hold the plastic body in place. Using a light action rod with 2lb line, they will cast pretty far, you can use a bb split shot to cast further if needed. If you're fishing for trout, using a fluorocarbon leader line also helps, trout are visual strikers, and they can't see the fluorocarbon as easily.
@3gcraftsman4 ай бұрын
Where would you place the bb split shot in this scenario?
@howard79974 ай бұрын
@@3gcraftsman It depends on the water depth, but in general 12-18" inches above the Trout Magnet. Most instances it's not necessary to use, but when casting into wind or when a further cast is needed the added weight can help.

Thnx Guy, imma try some of these! Z man micro finess 1/30 jig head has been working great for me crappie fishing, the bait keeper is subtle & doesn't tear up your bait! @THEREELTEST that jig was just recently released by i_fish, another ultralight channel here on KZbin. But I think he admits the Diawa ajing jigs are the best. These Chinese knockoffs are pretty similar and I would probably go with these over the BG1. Although his jigs ship from here in the States I believe.

New sub, thank you for the review! These look great, I just purchased a few packs in each size!!! I do a lot of ultra light fishing and just being able to cast the further distance with the heavier jig heads, yet the hook size remains the same is awesome for us bank anglers!!!!

I’ve definitely gotta buy these jigheads. I think the hook seems a little more stout too which is nice but the big thing for me is the shape of the head and the eyes!

I've been using these for years, along with the Gekebijin and more recently the i_fish BG. The one you show are sold under multiple brand names on AE and like you say, that extra 0.2 g makes a huge difference in casting with BFS. The hooks on the Gekebijin are sharper and lighter wire which provides better penetration and some hope of bending the hook out on light line when you snag but the AE jig heads are cheap enough that I don't worry about breaking off. The BG jig heads are also sharper than the AEs and somewhere between the Daiwa and AE in wire gauge and seem to have hook points that are the most resistant to dulling. All good stuff.

After my order last night, I think I'll have every color and kit they've made in my collection 😂 Mini Magnets, Trout Slayers, and Crappie Magnets as well. Lead is very malleable and easy to manipulate. Everyone needs a small pair of side cutters anyways because you will eventually bury hooks where you dont want them. Been there done that. Anyways, girdle the little retaining of a regular jig head all the way around, then snip off that little cylinder. Use super glue on the hook shank and slide your plastic up. IMHO it seems to hold as good or better than many factory "lumps" anyways. It prevents the big swollen choad of plastic with some jig+plastic setups too so a better looking lure all around. Use one size up from what you normally would as you are removing some of the lead.

So that rod is it a new version of the ave hawk venom. I just bought an Ace Hawk venom 7’ to use for corvina, corvina and bonefish here in San Diego. I too have been buying jig heads from Alt express. Those seem like a good find, . I am using five pound braid and 4 pound Fluor with my Dark would ultra. I hav ‘t fished them yet as aI just got them . If I hook into one of the spotted bay bass I am wondering how it will hold up? Lol I will find out. I also have the pisicifun carbon reel and the Shimano majestic to bfs rod try in case that outfit is too light. I got these all base on your videos. Going today to try some of it out. I wish I has some lakes with crappie like you have.
