@@tsori8717 Zig was one of the last of the master horn builder whe begane his aprentishship with F E Olds in LA in 1952 . Olds was an open shop you built your 12 horns per day and was paid $2.50 per horn that passed inspection and only $0,50 each for anymore than that. Zig had a large family to support so he was building 40 to 42 horns per day because he needed the money.. after Olds went out of business in 1979-1980 Kanstul bought out the tooling from the FE O;lds bankruptcy court and began building horns under the Kanstul name in 1981. Sex appeal. Higher copper content in the brass produces a warmer quality to the tone. Probably not the thing for a fist chair in Big Band, but first chair in a Symphony Orchestra, or a lyrical soloist might want to have one around.

Very fine horns indeed. Many consider them the best ever made. I’d suggest that their prices are a HUGE barrier for maybe 99% of all players. BAC is making truly excellent horns which while priced at a premium for the top-tier line, are still quite affordable for most players. I’ve found the BAC horns to also have excellent characteristics for blending in with the full trumpet section.
