I want to know which one is better the full frame camera or crop sensor? I want the tamron 10-24 wide angle lens and i want another lens like the 35mm and the 18-400 i think that's all i need. So if i buy 3 lens for my 80d I'm good and for my full frame i will just get the 24-70 and the 50mm and the 17-35mm. So 6 lens is great but is 6 lens is good enough

It’s a great value. Super build quality. It IS a big lens for M43, and heavy. I don’t particularly care for the flare on the front, though I know that is to keep filters out of the view. I often keep it on my camera as my walking around lens because it is wide and sharp.

Nice video dude! Few things you can improve on: 1) make an outro (the ending was really abrupt) 2) try to transition the music a bit better. It was really loud at the beginning and almost couldn't hear what you were saying. Other than those two things, I really enjoyed the video! I'm also just getting into astrophotography and was looking for an ultra-wide angle on a budget. Wish it had an on/off AF system, but I can work around that. On another note, you just focus to infinity for astrophotography, right? or are there other situations where one would need to focus and other stops?
@DavidJohnstonPhoto6 жыл бұрын
Yo! Thanks for the feedback. It's comments like this that let me know what' working and what's not so we can make this a great community together! I'll work on those things. Ok, diving into the world of astrophotography is an amazing ride. First of all I just made this video about when to shoot the Milky Way: kzbin.info/www/bejne/n3ati2umZp52esU But to answer your question, yes, you focus to infinity to get crisp stars and foregrounds. I would test the lens out during daylight hours though before you take it out at night. To do this, set the lens to infinity and then zoom in to something really small in the distance on your LCD display to be sure it's in focus. Somethings the focus to infinity can be slightly off and you can mark where it actually is on your lens with a pencil or sharpee. Or you can just tape it into place so you know it'll be right! Also, I'm going to be making a tutorial on how to photograph some night shots like the Milky Way, star trails, and pin point stars so keep an eye out for those in the next few weeks!

One way around manual focus issues is to use an ultra wide lens. For the GH4, that would be the Kowa/Navitar 6mm HC series. A C mount lens. Since it successfully covers the GH4 sensor in video mode, it covers more than the advertised 1 inch sensor. The crop factor on the GH4 in video mode is 2.3x, not 2x, as in still 4:3 mode on most m4/3 sensors. Since it covers fully, the actual angle of view on GH4 in video is larger than the quoted degees below. Hyperfocal distance is very close at F5.6 allowing infinity and one metre or so to be in focus. NO twiddling focus! No searching by AutoFocus that breaks the connection between viewer and subjects. A real run and gun lens! Screws can lock down the focus and aperture, useful for remote use etc. Internal focus, less breathing effect. Lens length remains the same. If you are using an APS-C sensor then the Canon EF-s 10-18mm would be a better choice over the Rokinon, in my opinion. It's an excellent piece of glass, gives you zoom capability, has AF & MF and you can find them for roughly the same price as the Rokinon. AND, it's built for the APS-C sensor!! The only downside I could see is that it's not as fast a the Rokinon so it's a trade off as to what features are most important to you. Cheers! PS. They also make an EF-s 10-22mm but it's a little more expensive, depends on what you need.

@phillipedouvier35746 жыл бұрын
This seems to be a great deal, to get that wide with Canon L glass (EF 11-24mm L F/4) you are talking about $3K. And the Rokinon is faster! I wouldn't think the MF is really a downside because you are more often than not likely to disengage AF for those ultra wide applications anyway. My only concern would be the degree of chromatic aberration but again in ultra wide applications this might not be a factor and there is always PhotoShop if it's minor. Lack of zoom capability is what it is, every lens has some sort of trade off and all things considered it's probably the lesser of the possible evils you could have to accept.

Great video. You really covered the pros and cons of the lens well. Rokinon are supposed to be pretty good lens particularly for the price but most of them are manual focus prime lens although I think they have started to make a few auto focus lens. Some people actually use manual focus older lens on newer digital cameras, and it is a similar market that I think Rokinon has targeted. Manual focus lens are great for things like landscape photography where there is time to focus and subject is not moving positions quickly. Ultra wide angle lens are great, but generally cost a lot of money unfortunately, but there are a few more affordable options available for cropped frame cameras. Nikon makes a ultra wide to wide angle zoom for their APS-C DSLRs which is a very nice lens and Cannon makes a similar zoom for their APS-C cameras.
