Even watching this on a tiny phone screen, the difference between the harsh white of the Matco & Snap on compared to the Milwaukee is obvious. It's a no brainer...the Milwaukee works best and costs less...I'm sold!

Yea i love the natural light tone with the milwaukee!!!

Most Milwaukee lights features what they call ' true view ' that offers more to the automotive than a general contractor or tradesman/ handy man. The natural daylight rendering of the multi color wite insulation and coding of wires with contrasting colour stripes . This will help in not making a mistake of confusing shades of brown / orange / yellow jackets & ID designation stripes when doing electrical diagnostic repairs. The older , "colder" white / bluish light is not merely " harsher " on the eyes but could cause confusion when tracing/ identifying wires.

Hello Nick. What I appriciate most is your honesty! I could see myself using the Milwaukee light. I'm a DIY person, the light would be beneficial in many circumstances. Your favorite light would be my choice also. Thank you again for shining a light on this subject. Best wishes for your channel!

Love my milwaukee light. $200 best bang for buck. Also love how it uses the same M12 battery as my ratchets and stubby impact. Better than the built in batteries. You can keep switching M12 battery packs.. Also can't beat the 5 year warranty with milwaukee.

For years I was using a plug in fluorescent under hood light (Saberlight) that I loved. Then the igniter went out and I haven’t gotten around to try to fix it. Since then, I’ve been using headlights. I have a Streamlight double clutch, the Snap On neck light (I wear it over my ears) and I just bought a Lightbar Pro. The Streamlight Double Clutch has been my go to but I am really liking the Lightbar Pro. They’ve made me get over not having a under hood light and they are WAY more versatile and much smaller so they’re easier to store.

I had that same light at first too, and same problem happened to me twice so I gave up on it. I like the head lights but I can only wear them for so long before getting a headache.

Perfect timing on this video bro, I’m actually in the market for replacing my old underhood light! Was thinking of getting the Mac rechargeable light but this video definitely gave me some insight, thanks bro!

I used the Milwaukee light but now I just use a streamlight switch blade work light. lights the whole engine bay up and a decent run time
@scoob663 жыл бұрын
is it harsh white light or more natural?
@Blackhawk74703 жыл бұрын
The switch blade is pretty bright I will forget to flip it around when I turn it on and blind myself the Milwaukee hood light is really bright i prefer to use when doing interior work the work light also has a very bright black light built in I find leaks on a/c systems quick
@mlhmisc13 жыл бұрын
The switchblade has both bright white and a more yellowish light on the other side.

I've got the Milwaukee mainly because of the M12 battery line I've got other M12 tools and it was super practical to have the Milwaukee light. My inner Snap-On junkie was telling me to get the snap on but the Milwaukee is super bright so I'm super happy with my Milwaukee!!

yea ill let people at my work use my milwaukee and they always love it.

I got the snap-on light bar that is similar to that milwaukee light. It's great, used it heavily for engine pulls and at home DIY stuff. You can just toss it under the car and it lights up everything.

Sick video bro. I use the Matco mini flood light & the stream light strion switchblade
@jb2._3 жыл бұрын
The matco mini flood is one of my favorites. My co workers use the snap on mini flood & th battery seems to die pretty quickly

I have the Milwaukees and I do like it more than the Snap-on and the Matco lights I run my underhood light off 6hrs 6.0 batteries and it holds up great and not much of need to always have it on high unless you really need to look down in a deep area

I think a regular handheld flashlight video would be a good idea too!!

Yo yo yo. Nick, what about the ability to attach more lights to the bar. Can it be done, if purchased separately?

Milwaukee should make a under hood light with M18 system . I have tons of M18 batteries for it. That will run the light longer. Dewalt made one with Max 20 battery , unfortunately I don’t have dewalt series of tool and battery.

Hey Nick what is the model for the Milwaukee? Thanks
@LetsDriftMedia3 жыл бұрын
Just type in milwaukee m12 underhood light, there is only 1 model out right now.

The shadows are not because of the more lumens. It is just because they are a smaller light source. The smaller your light source, the harder your shadows and vice versa. I'm a photographer that is how we decide the lighting needed for a subject.
@LetsDriftMedia2 жыл бұрын
Good point, Will be great once a company makes a high lumen/high light source light then.

Nick what would be your suggestion for someone who wants formal training on automotive maintenance as a hobby? I already have a career doing something else that makes money but being self taught is never as good as learning from someone in person.

you can learn alot on KZbin. or take some courses at a community college. alot offer night classes.

Anyone interested in buying the Milwaukee under hood light, they are currently on sale on Home Depot's website for $150 instead of $200. Thanks for posting this video, Nick. Have you used the M12 under hood light with the m12 6.0ah batteries? With 50% more capacity than the 4.0, I figure run times should come to about 6hrs on high and 12hrs on low. I've been using a cheap Braun under hood light from Harbor Freight, which I love the concept of, butttttt we all know you get what you pay for at HF. I considered the less expensive Gearwrench under hood light, but having to charge the light itself is the biggest issue I have with my HF under hood light. It's great while it's charged, but it dies pretty quickly and then you're dancing around the charging cord. If you're already bought into the m12 system and have a few batteries, think cost & versatility wise, this is hard to beat. I'm not aware of any other brands that offer under hood lights with interchangeable batteries and that alone is the biggest selling point for me.

I have been wanting to get a 6A battery but they are kind of expensive, curious how well the amazon knock off batteries are.
