On drop rate is a series about obtaining a specific unique item from any source in old school runescape, but I can only attempt said activity as many times as said items exact drop rate.
In this video I will take on up to 500 Grotesque guardian kills in an attempt of unlocking the black tourmaline core on the collection log.

Just a heads up I think it’s a 30 minute timer on loot on the floor in an instance, also eternal slayer ring for this boss is a great upgrade edit: I am wrong ripperoni

Incorrect, the runelite ground item timer only goes up to 30 minutes but as far as I'm aware the loot stays there until you get 6 hour logged/leave the instance, source; I've done entire extended tasks in one sitting both at GGs and Kraken (the private instance) and nothing has de-spawned.

@@etherealpenguin8683 I guess watching the noted loot disappear on the floor at Garg boss was just my imagination. Doesn’t happen at any paid instances though like Kraken, KBD, or GWD ;)

@@alexanderd2973 I have watched the timer run out and nothing disappear, I've spent literally 2+ hours in GGs at a time multiple times and left all the loot on the floor, go test it yourself if you don't believe me, perhaps it wasn't always like that and they changed it when they updated the boss a year or so back to make it consistent with other instances (which would make sense as I hadn't done a long trip before the update)

they arent all that great money compared to other tasks, but when i am trying to just play the game and kill a boss without getting sweaty they are my go to. An enjoyable fight with decent drops and very little gp waste on resources.

Guardian Boots are also just super cool for their price point on a more budget-oriented player's account. I can afford Prims, so I use those, but if I couldn't I would use Guardian all day. So much overall value on a single item.

In MOST melee setups, THE EXTRA STRENGTH BONUS for PRIMORDIALS DOESN'T ACTUALLY GIVE YOU A MAX HIT OVER GUARDIAN BOOTS. Guardians are OP, they have incredible defensive bonuses and are significantly cheaper. Guardian+torture>fury+primordials. I use guardian boots in almost every setup, even range.

Tank gear is severely underrated imo, even on GGs, my setup for melee is basically full tank; slayer helm w/ justiciar and I main hand the SGS because it's honestly not that bad DPS-wise and the spec can sustain you almost infinitely because you have a crazy high prayer bonus in this setup too (35 in melee gear, 21 in range) I used to use ring of the gods for the extra prayer sustain but since ToA it might be better to use a lightbearer for more specs, for the range gear I take crystal body/legs, bowfa and anguish, so just a 4 way switch and it still tears through Dawn, since the BP nerf and the orb changes (they don't damage you anymore) bowfa is really good at GGs imo as you can shoot Dawn while you run around and pick up the orbs with little to no ticks lost, you can out DPS the orbs most of the time but there is simply no need to risk it with the bowfa, the kills aren't long at all either, when you're in your melee gear you can just not pray as they will rarely hit you especially with piety up, no guthans required, no blood fury required (although blood fury makes this practically afk) you can legitimately do an entire extended task in one sitting without having to prayer flick, if you have the fortitude anyway and don't get unlucky with the ppot drops, also fally shield for even more prayer sustain. As an added bonus this setup only costs around 250m, much cheaper than 1.5b

Oh also I take the diary ring to alch and to get there (cabbage patch > port sarim spirit tree > house > fairy ring > slayer tower) and rada's blessing to get out again because I have accidentally house TP'd out the instance without my loot before so I just don't take runes now LOL

i know its not super serious, but since the series is based on probability, i would just like to let you know that probability doesn't work that way, although it can be difficult to calculate, 1/1000 x2 is nowhere near 1/500, its probably closer to 1/750. either way you decide to continue i love this series, great content!

Without 99 strength or the money for prims, I use Guardian boots fairly regularly over Dragon boots because the +1 difference usually doesn't give me a max hit in most setups.
