I’d say underdogs also deserves S tier, its short but the point of it isnt to be a long story game, its a rogue lite where your supposed to do tons of runs and just box it out. Regardless, pretty good list!

I have a totally different List 😅 Best VR Experiences of 2024: 1. Subside VR This game, developed by a solo developer, sets a new benchmark for how VR should look and feel in 2024. It’s absolutely stunning, and titles like this deserve more recognition and visibility on your platform! 2. Riven VR An epic, full-scale puzzle game with breathtaking visuals on PC. 3. Flight Simulator 2024 (FS2024) A spectacular VR experience when paired with the right internet connection and PC hardware. While there are still a few bugs, these should be resolved soon. 4. Behemoth An okay experience, but the game feels very simple and old school because it suffers from too many linear tunnels and a lack of graphical detail, shadows, likely due to the limitations of mobile VR. 5. Metro The introduction to the game is very well done!, but it quickly becomes overly linear, with narrow "quest tunnels"that never really open up-again, likely due to mobile VR limitations. The good thing: the game has (different to Behemoth and Batman) a good excuse for the narrow tunnels! 6. AS: Remake Maybe it’s because it’s already iconic to me? Yes, it’s linear, but its level design never feels as narrow or outdated as the new games designed for the Quest (e.g., Batman, Metro, Behemoth). Graphically (on PC), it’s clearly ahead of titles like Batman! 7. Batman For 2024, this title feels too linear and confined, with limited detail and almost no interaction with objects in the virtual world. The mobile VR limitations are evident throughout the experience. But the title has excellent voice acting! 😅 Final Thoughts: Meta urgently needs to implement VR cloud gaming for their mobile platform to push VR gaming into the future. Currently, VR games often feel like PC titles from 2002. This is a serious issue for the future success of VR gaming.

@@g1llifer PCVR is not dying but we get not that great Titel anymore because everything has to run also on the mobile Quest. In my opinion a Quest 3 in combination with a gaming PC is at the moment the best VR-Solution you can get.

@patfish3291 Besides a couple of games, the only things that's kept PCVR alive are VR mods for pancake games. There's no huge money going into PCVR titles or tons of people playing them so its obvious it doesn't make sense for big studios to spend lots of money on it. This is coming from someone who almost exclusively plays PCVR..

@g1llifer Yes, Meta did everything (65 Billions) to bring VR from PC to mobile. The good thing is that PCVR is the !only platform! that can and will survive without a billion dollar concern/sugar daddy. It will not grow without big investments but it will exist. We get PC versions of Quest and PS Games + Indy Games and VR Modes on PC. 2025 Valve will be back with a new strategy to bring VR and flat Gaming closer together. So hopefully PCVR will also grow again and flat Games start to support VR more often. It's so much simpler and cheaper to make VR Gaming on PC popular than on every other platform - But Meta has/had different plans than great VR gaming ;-)

Arizona Sunshine remake is easily A tier. But sadly none of the 2024 games come close to a 5 year old Half Life Alyx or Red Dead Remption. Hopefully 2025 will be a lot better

It seems you either missed playing these or they weren’t your preferred cup of tea, but Into Black was at the top of my personal list. I also want to give a HUGE SHOOTOUT to the best simulator. That would be Subside. It is hands down the most realistic scuba experience available for VR. Makes Subnatica look like a cartoon experience.

My boy Matteo doing Into Black dirty. Into Black is such a fun game! I'd put it in my A tier easily. Excellent movement and traversal, good shooting and combat, rewarding resource gathering/upgrade system, fun story, cool art style, decent coop. For $20 on the Quest store, it's an easy recommend.

Batman was definitely S tier, but game of the year for me was Metro IMO, S tier also. I Agree about Behemoth. Underdogs is probably my favourite standalone title & Witchbood was not on my radar and is £5.99 ATM, so ill give that a go. Great list and pretty much agree with you on it all.

@@ace_king people who say that probably havent gotten past the gotham prologue. the game really opens up after that. and there are a ton of cool moves and combos you can do to make the combat diverse and interesting. great cinematics, graphics, combat, etc

Hey Matteo, great list. Although you need to add zero caliber 2. It got a lot of patches and is in a good place on q3. Also Into Black was decent too. As for Behemoth, i was underwelmed with the combat until I unlocked more abilities and then it just clicked. Theres a miniboss before the 2nd behemoth fight that reminded me of death adder from golden axe and it hit me right in the nostalgia lol. I give that game an A.

Underworld Overseer has been surprisingly good. The trailer graphics dont show how much fun it is and I wouldnt have bought it without the demo which sold me on the gameplay. It has surprising depth.

I think Behemoth belongs in A simlpy because I think it is better than Metro. I like that you are deliberate with the high ratings. Can't wait for Hitman and Wanderer next Year 🥰

I enjoyed the stream yesterday. I was the one that asked the question about Asgard's Wrath 2 or Alien. That was my bad that I didn't mention that I have Quest 3 but also pcvr. I was torn between the two titles but knew everyone said Asgard was the better choice. So that's the choice I made, and I can say the game is absolutely amazing. I'll be picking Alien up soon, though. Anyways, brother, have a great holiday

Recently hopped back into showdown and, unfortunately, the battle royale part of the game has dropped in quality. The matches are also rarely full 😢. Their new extraction shooter mode (included with game) is neat though, but still wish the battle royale was their primary focus.

@b.s.7693 It's coss-platform multiplayer and doesn't split the platforms as far as I'm aware. They should've never done the different Battle Royale game modes, as there isn't enough people, imo. Reborn being a permanent mode is really bad for consistent lobbies.

I just think Metro was the most immersive game of the year with wiping the gas mask, the filters, the backpack system, burning the spider webs, etc... Bulletstorm - current audience? Don’t think anybody cares and you are taking the disclaimer at the beginning a bit too serious. The developers are just covering themselves for the 4 people that will complain very loudly about one or two lines in the script! The dialogue is refreshingly good after so many of the sanitised and bland scripts that abound for ‘current audiences’. Glad it’s in the list as it was a great port - in the end. Looks fantastic now

@@Atticus1ag its a little short of what we were told to expect. but thats okay. the people hating on it are a) just bad at the combat or b) mad that it isnt a pcvr exclusive game that has ray tracing, fully simulated water physics, and requires sixteen 4090s to run because "quest is holding back vr". if quest didnt exist behemoth or all the other games coming out wouldnt exist either. people need to learn to deal with it. in short there isnt anything they're comparing it too. they just have false delusions. but ofc the game isnt for everyone and thats okay. but thats what most of the complaints are

So far for me, Metro is better than Arkham Shadow, and my top VR game of the year. Shadow is good enough, but it's all a bit empty with little to do outside of the combat scenes. If there was just more stuff to interact with in the levels and more secret areas and hidden paths and such, as well as being just a bit less obviously closed into small corridors and rooms and by the numbers linearity, I think that would help a lot. I mean, I've just got the prison in Shadow--I've completed Metro--but if the game's levels don't open up much more than what I've experienced, so they don't all feel very closed in like obvious small sets, it's not going to deliver for me. I just need a few areas that actually feel larger and that open up to a bigger world outside and beyond the constant walls and fences in the environment closing me in all the time. It makes the game feel very small and directed/linear in scope. Metro is literally set in an underground metro that you'd think would be a pretty small and claustrophobic environment for the most part, and yet it still felt a lot more open and made me believe it existed beyond the sections I was in than Shadow most of the time bizarrely enough. But, other than that, Shadow is certainly high production value and stuff. PS. I really wish they'd add a punch sound effect when you make a fist and punch any of the walls and stuff. It's so weird to punch a wall as Batman and it be totally silent.

The Burst has recieved a plethora of patches and improvements since launch and is definitely worth your time. I really wish you would have followed up with the game, as it has grown to become one of my favorite VR experiences.

Batman and behemoth have been my games of the year. I think behemoth is an exceptional game. Metro was also pretty good, i love the sections with human enemies. Currently playing alien pn pavr2 and im really disappointed with rhe visuals, anyone thinking of biying it i would wait and see if theres a patch. I refunded the pc version for the haptics, i regret my decision. It looked much crisper on PC

My biggest concern is Ubisoft forcing in modern day politics into their games so assuming they did with AC Nexus somehow as well?? Does anyone know? And if they did this, I will probably just get Behemoth.

I've only experience 3 of these games, Metal Hellsinger, Metro Awakening and Behemoth. Alien Rogue Incursion looks promising. Batman is not S tier because it is an exclusive. I'm not into Quest headsets, mostly I find them too small in fit on my face, max IPD is too small and I'm disappointed that they insist on having exclusive games, when they don't make a headset for those of us with a very large IPD (mine is 75mm).

Personally I'm not sure about your A tier. Metro was good in the first half but the second half was so bad it left a bad impression on me. Behemoth's combat is just not good for me, at launch blocking just didn't work sometimes, they then fixed it in a patch but I have still yet to finish the game maybe I should try with stamina off or something.. the game is mostly combat so it's a shame it's not better. Maybe I was too hyped for that one. Also seeing alien on the same tier as ember soul feels wrong. I really liked my time with alien, it really lacks enemy variety and at some point it just gets annoying when you hear the motion sensor beeping but they really nailed the alien retro futuristic vibes and the story was interesting to me, the way the map was open even though it's pretty linear made it feel like it's a real place instead of just corridors after corridors like in metro. I think it got way too much backlash for the part 1 of 2 thing, it's a finished game and the fact we will get another one is great, it doesn't seem like they cut the game short and tried to sell it in 2 parts. I have yet to try batman, not a big fan of superheroes in general but given the reception I guess I have to at least try it, the combat looks interesting.

hard to tell what style of gamer he is with these ratings. Keeping in mind tiers are subjective. I LOL'd IRL when he said a Primarily Rouge-lite/like genre based game was "Grindy" and another one was "short" ... yeah that's the primary mechanics of the genre. some are intentionally short due to them focusing on the build diversity, and if it isn't a bullet heaven/broken build builder style then they are definitely Grindy. Still good content tho. I definitely suspect that he put some troll tiers to evoke comments

@daryl804 So my genres of choice have really changed since getting into vr. 10-20 years ago i was big on competitive shooter which i really dont play much anymore. Im also a huge rpg fan but vr is lacking here. I'm more a fan of good games above all else now. In terms of grindy, no that's not really a gameplay mechanic. Grindy has a negative connotation, when it doesn't feel fun or rewarding anymore. The gameplay needs to remain fun and not just turn into work to unlock something. Yes, roguelikes can be short but I don't expect to complete all content in 90 minutes. Now what's a troll tier?

(the majority of my competetive shooter/Sports friends say similar things about my game selection) And I was getting the feeling that you were a "true" gamer overall which would explain the teir variations and noted criticisms about the more niche specific titles, but nah I meant intentionally "misplacing" games in lower/higher tiers. akin to when a reviewer may intentionally mispronounce/misspell a characters name or backstory as it is a known and proven engagement increase strategy. Like, if you said "I love the blue sky" but it is green in the video. I agree tho 90min playtimes are typically the $1-$10 rouge-styled games. $15- if it has AAA-Like graphics that are original art.

@daryl804 i don't think I purposely did anything to invoke engagement. I even state when my opinion is controversial. I tiered to things based on, quality fun level, and value, then I mix in my person preference with overall mainstream appeal

it definitely is imo. asgards wrath 2 has a lot of fantastic moments but its bloated for the 60+ hour playtime and has major pacing issues. it's always felt just like a slog to me. arkham shadow is shorter but much sweeter and has some of the best vr combat, cinematics, characters, and story
