Hi Betrix, I hope you're having a great day? I recently watched an interview with Jazz guitarist Julian Lage by Rick Beato. At around 53 minute mark he talks about a condition called Focal Dystonia which is a neurological condition that affects certain groups of muscles. In his case it was his fingers. It highline for me the importance of not only warm up exercises, but also mixing up with various other activities. Take care, Paul

Sooo relatable, I am currently going through my hand recovery after tendinitis. I've been learning to play guitar for 1.5 years and its really lame to get disabled for a significant period of time just in time I got to the point I can actually learn and play something more or less interesting

I had mine in January, made me really rething what I'm doing... :( The only thing I can tell is patience and practice more self awareness, there's a high chance your body was trying to wanr you but you didn't listen , that's how usually we end up injured. Just take your time, it's better not to play for one more month rather than ruining your hand for the next 10 years

Good sound advice Beatrix myself I’ve suffered from cubital tunnel syndrome it’s getting better now and can’t stress how much you need to warmup. When your young you think your invincible but it just goes to show it can happen to anyone. I got my cts from using my pinky as an anchor to hold my phone don’t do it forgot to mention I’m a fellow nylon basher as well 🙂

Absolutely agree. When I was 18 and if I was hit by a bus, I'd still show up at guitar lesson that day hahaha. We have to be more self aware as we get older. I might look young but I also notice that I'm not as flexible as I was 10 years ago, so I'm still at the beginning of this self awareness journey, but I will share every bit I learn with you guys. Btw my friend had a cubital syndrome last year and just switching to an ergonomic chair for work, good desk heigth and a switch in mouse helped him a lot, so maybe check your daily enviroment if you could optimize it a bit for more ergonomic feel. In January I also had an injury, partially caused by extending my thumb while using my phone, so I got an iPhone 13 mini and I try using it less :D

A person's entire skelatin is rebuilt every decade (+ - ) , but every minute. Joints are suseptable to damage when a new, different movement becomes a regular thng, if it is against what they are used to growing up. Warm up for blood flow is like "oiling" the joints so they get used to it.. I learned this as a weight lifter/ crazy person. (A cop).

Good advice - also, within a warm-up, it's worth starting with motion exercises like arm or hand circling, before doing stretch-type exercises, because cold muscles don't stretch well. By the way, did you get a chance to see the World Athletics championships?

Another recommendation. Your channel has guitar in the name. The thumbnail text could be changed to "Best Warm Ups!" and you could move yourself slightly further to the right, so that the guitar is more of a star. I am still not 100% sure what the PS5 controller has to do with anything, though. Maybe I missed something. My apologies. Also, if you don't have replies turned on, I did reply to my earlier message (it is just as much a novel as this one, just as a warning).

Hi Beatrix, I think I might have mild tendinitis in my picking hand and wonder if you have ever dealt with the same? And if so, what worked best for you to recover and how long?
@beatrixguitar
@beatrixguitar 11 ай бұрын
Hi! I had one in January... took me until april or maybe may to recover. I wasn't too smart about it, you know, playing guitar and showing up on the internet all the time is my job so I didn't give myself the rest I needed, so the pain came back in waves over and over again. If possible, put down the instrument for an entire month maybe. I wish I've done that. Wish you a speedy recovery!
