Not sure if you are still checking responses to your tutorial here but I love this technique. I agree that just gluing the post is not sufficient. Adding that thin layer of clay in addition to the glue will create a strong bond for the post. Thanks for sharing.

Thank you Leslie 😃. I've seen so many ways online of people attaching earring posts but I just don't think you can beat keeping it simple with a layer of clay.

Thank you so much for this tutorial. You explain it all so well and you do it so neatly. I have been trying to decide on way to attach the posts for weeks. I wanted to do this method but until i saw your video it looked so messy, difficult and took to long. I cant wait to see more of you videos.

Beautiful colors and a very neat look. May I ask, a baked polymer clay touching the earlobe, doesn't it create any allergic reactions, right? But then again, in the same way, as any other polymer clay pendant or bracelet. Thank you for a lovely tutorial.
@TheArtisanDuck Жыл бұрын
Thank you Annita. With regards to allergy, I would think that an allergy to baked polymer clay would be unusual as it's a hardened plastic (of sorts) basically. Obviously everyone is individual though and what may cause an allergy for one person would be fine for others.

@The Artisan Duck, thank you for your response. I agree, just like anything which might cause an allergy to someone, the same thing might not cause any allergy to somebody else.

So you applied the back and little clay circle to the back of baked clay? Then you had to bake it again? How long and what heat do you bake it again, please?
@TheArtisanDuck2 жыл бұрын
Yes, use some liquid clay on the back of your baked clay piece and then apply the metal earring post and unbaked clay over the top. I used fimo liquid clay so I baked again at 130° for half an hour. If you are using a different brand of liquid /polymer clay then use the baking instructions for that. Hope that helps 😀

Hello! Can you tell me please if the studs are from sterling silver? And if not, you think it is possible to use the same method with silver?
@TheArtisanDuck Жыл бұрын
Hello Elena, the studs I used here are not sterling silver. I imagine that sterling silver would be absolutely fine to use with this method. The oven temperature shouldn't be a problem (the melting point for sterling silver is much higher) and the clay will be absolutely fine with silver. Let me know how you get on!

Did you bake the earring part before you did the back and then baked again?
@TheArtisanDuck2 жыл бұрын
Yes, bake the earrings and then bake again once you've got your earring post added.
@Msallangelnowings Жыл бұрын
how long did you have to bake it for?
@TheArtisanDuck Жыл бұрын
I baked for half an hour for the plain earring front and then when, I had added my liquid clay and added more clay with the earring post, I baked for another half an hour.

Where did you get your tools?
@TheArtisanDuckАй бұрын
I've just collected them over the years but mostly from Amazon. Is there a tool in particular you are interested in?

@@TheArtisanDuck I thought it looked like you had a good variety to do different things and I want to see if my granddaughter who is very artistic would enjoy making some miniature items to go in a small dollhouse together, I was thinking about a Christmas gift.

@@patriciasmith7074 Every year I plan on putting together a Christmas list for beginners and I've never done it. Maybe this year is the year! My cutting shapes are mostly small cookie cutters or cutters meant for, I think, leather work. In this video I think I used a retractable craft pick by Tonic Studios (I've just looked it up on Amazon - it looks to be black and grey now). Hope that helps 🙂

Does a raw clay stick on baked clay? Cuz I have a glue that doesn’t stick too well on my product.
@TheArtisanDuck2 жыл бұрын
Hi, no you'll need to use some sort of liquid clay (I use Fimo liquid clay - I've seen it called decorating gel) to act as a glue between the baked and raw clay. Regular glues just don't work at all.
