One of the things caffeine does is it doesn't actually wake you up but it masks your tiredness symptoms. That's where the problem of using caffeine to wake up comes from, it doesn't deal with the problem of feeling tired, it just makes you think you're not. I have pain and related fatigue issues, so I use caffeine when I need it to achieve something where I'm too tired to be at my best. But the big thing I do is sleep and nap whenever I need to. If I have the freedom to, I'll grad a sleep over caffeine every time because one deals with the problem, and one doesn't. And ignoring the fact you're sleep deprived by hiding the symptoms is ultimately a losing game. Over time, you're more likely to make mistakes, be irritable, and have other issues. Another great vid!

Hey mate I would love to see a series from you that covers concepts that you struggled learning or some tips your tricks of the trade (getting cables down walls, bus bars, stripping trips etc) I could apply through my apprenticeship. Keep it up!

Hey Corey, your videos are super helpful cheers. I'm a currently a year through uni out of highschool, hate the amount of debt I'm racking up and can't see a particularly prosperous future from my studies. I'm really interested in dropping out and pursuing an electrical apprenticeship. I have two concerns though. I work full time at a servo doing second shift (15-00) which really suits my lifestyle and I've built a great sleep schedule where I always feel refreshed and productive during working time. I'm scared to get an apprenticeship where I need to shift my sleep schedule back - highschool has convinced me I can't wake up early. Obviously electricians work around the clock and there are a number working second shift and into the night. What are the chances of finding an apprenticeship suited to my hours or is it unreasonable to expect that? Secondly, I've moved out of home and have a small mortgage and am worried that a significant downgrade in pay for the duration of an apprenticeship could be very difficult to deal with. I'm currently making around a grand a week and my hours are often not maxxed out. Also figuring out whether I need to drop work to knockoff the cert II in 9 weeks and then do a shift or two a week at the servo on top of the apprenticeship to make sure I'm financially stable. Any thoughts? Thanks again, I'm also from Melbourne and it's great to see you bring a very fresh perspective on the trade.

Sounds very similar to my situation when I was 19! Unfortunately you'll have to get used to the early starts which means waking up at 5. I doubt you'll find an employer willing to be flexible. I worked full time as a first year and woolies in the afternoons for a few months when I started out but it just wasn't worth it in the end. You can give it a go but working that many hours is really draining. In terms of budgeting, work out your expenses and your weekly wage as an apprentice, see if it's viable. I recommend reading The barefoot investor, super useful finance book! I took a couple months off work to do the pre-apprenticeship and defs worth it, but if you're truly committed start applying for jobs now as well. Good luck mate

I try to tell guys that you shouldn't drink caffeine for the first 90 minutes after waking up. Kids at work drink 2 monsters before smoko
