I DESPISE my black composite kitchen sink, I call it the Heart of Darkness that I have to look into every day. But thank you so much for giving me a method to make it look better until I can have it replaced.😊 After that I'll be back on your channel to find out how to clean a white one! Yeah, I know how to clean sinks but keeping kitchen sinks looking good is next level stuff!

Really? I've been oogling at black sinks for quite some time. Just wondering what would you prefer instead?

I like my black sink. I use vegetable oil on a paper towel. Looks good for a few days. Vinegar made it look awful.

Great video! 👍 I use a vinegar and water mixture to clean the hard water/calcium on my fauctes. It works really well! Then, I use a brush to clean it up. My shower head and faucets look brand new!

THANK YOU!!! I will give this a try. I am one of the unfortunate ones to have this type of kitchen sink (Left behind by the previous owners). I've seen cleaning kits with products for sale for $70 to do this same project.

Thank you for the advice 👌 Also you can use vinegar and baking sonda to clean the garbage disposal.

Love your videos. Have you ever done any videos for people thinking of renovation projects on what materials are better/worse for long term maintenance? I always wonder if people end up regretting black sinks, black faucets or those kitchen faucets with the spiral thing on the outside. As I'm looking at ideas, I want to pick the best materials that will work long term.

Love your channel thrilled to discover you through Dr Oz recently, his daughter is addicted to you, and I can see why, I was looking for a man's perspective of DIY's and how to's and I have learned so much more than from all the women's perspective I have been following. QUESTION: I have a granite sink and yes I hate it I have hard mineral water, what is the best way to clean and remove the water stains and can I use food grade mineral oil to pretty it up like you did for your sink?

Exactly the same method we have used for 14-plus years but have not tried the BarsKeeper and mineral oil (used olive oil). Caution using Dawn PowerClean, it will strip away that oil protection layer.

One of my clients have black composite sink in the laundry room, they wash their shoes( here in Georgia the ground is reddish, like clay) and also they wash the dog. I didn't used Barkeeper's friend, as I thought it might cause more haze (it has a little haze already) and I never used mineral oil. 😁 So you really have to let it sit about an hour? Of course I'll ask the owner if he wants me to try it 😁

follow up: so the sink looks 90% amazing. i notices the main sink is not as shiny and more mat. everything else looks great and even sparkly. wonder if its just over used and deteriorated. thoughts ?

yaaas! i have one of these. a few years back someone told me to just pour olive oil for a shine. ill have to try mineral oil 🙂

It does work but I’m not a huge fan of olive oil because it can get a stinky / rotten smell over time.

Does this also work for black faucets. I renovated my bathroom with black faucets and shower and the water spots and haze are making it look old after 1 year of use. Would love to see a video on that if you are looking for ideas. Thanks

Can you make a cleaning video for white sinks?
@amadaspecht4 ай бұрын
You can do similar steps, just use magic eraser sponge and bar keepers friend and is like magic clean and white 💫

Yes that’s on the list! The goal is to have a video on the channel for just about every type of sink. 🙂

I love this! I'm gonna make one! I've been using dowel Rods and a basket but I'm running out of space and the dowels are starting to bend, so this will work perfectly 😊

Can I use any mineral oil(food grade) to protect the granite sink?

I endured one of those sinks for 5 long years. HATED IT with the white hot heat of a thousand suns! ☀️☀️☀️☀️☀️☀️ I quickly learned not to use any type of gritty cleaner...even the softer grit stuff like Soft Scrub...because it took forever to rinse off. And when you think it's finally rinsed and let it dry...SURPRISE!!! White streaks!🤷🏻♀️ Ultimately I settled down with a foaming bathroom cleaner, like Scrubbing Bubbles. That eliminated the streaks, but I still hated the sink because I never knew when it was dirty and I never knew when it was CLEAN! Did I miss a spot? Hell if I could tell !! Now I'm in a house with a stainless steel sink, which I hate somewhat less. Why don't people use white porcelain for sinks any more?? A question for the universe.🌌

On my sink, that black gasket can be pulled out and thoroughly cleaned on both sides. It's disgusting how much stuff builds up on the underside. I also use a garbage disposal tablet to freshen the inside of the disposal.

How long does your shine last on your sink? Should I do this process weekly?
@ConstantCompanion4 ай бұрын
This is too product silly..I mean heavy. Just use spray Dawn and a blue scrub sponge from Kmart. I use avocado oil on mine. Looks like a million bucks.

That’s definitely a great option for a well maintained sink with minimal hard water! Like I mentioned my DIY vinegar mix works great for everyday cleanings. I will say it’s best to deep clean and removal all dirty / hard water build up before oiling the sink. Otherwise you will start to have build up that can be tricky to remove. Happy cleaning! 🙂
