Thank you for the video and leaf removal. I'm starting to gather information on restarting my 305 '88 IROC thats been sitting in my garage for 10 years. Trying to get over the procrastination and overwhelming parts lists obstacle first.

It's easier than you think. And don't get wrapped up it the project as a hole you will get overwhelmed. Break it down into smaller projects. First the teardown, then the wiring then the fuel line...you get the idea it will be easier.

got question for you ....i just rebuild my chevy 350 1990 k5 blazer i converted it over from tbi to carb ..i did a few up grade on the engine high performance intake headers 3' pipes all way back up graded the cam to a howard rattler cam 525 intake lift 535 exhaust duration 227/235 lobe separation 109 center line 103 i still the same factory heads on there i believe they the swirl port heads ..i no i should have went with some better heads but the engine was already done. i put a brand new 1406 edelbrock car on it right out the box every sence i put that carb on there i been using alot of fuel i set the carb best as posible ..im using a awful lot of fuel just with it iding..i have my pressure regulator set at 5psi..dont no why im losing so mush fuel

I have an 88 GMC burban that I've been having odd issues with the injection system. One injector sticks open no matter which injector I put in that spot. I have an older 350 from a 78 caprice cop car that has great heads/ intake/ and the original spreadbore carb (quadrajet??) Do you think it's worth putting that carb/intake on to eliminate this headache? I've replaced every sensor as well. Or should I get a square bore intake and Holley carb? I prefer Holley, myself. I'm not looking to make more power, just something mechanical and reliable. That runs. Thanks for any info and that is a dope retro build! I'm not usually a fan of red, but it's perfect on that car. Very clean!! Also do you have any thoughts on swapping to a mechanical fuel pump? I'll have to see if my block has the block plate, but I'm experimenting with an EMP type build/ off grid. As low budget as possible. Again, thank you!

Well to be honest if it was me I would get a holley a new intake and a HEI distributor and go that route because the the other stuff is just going to give ya problem to.

Fuel pump psi. You measure it at idle, or revving up in park. Right? Can you tell if it’s correct under load? As in, to the wood, accelling down the road, max fuel. Wouldn’t it be starving for fuel at that point?

The electronic fuel pump is going to give the carb a continuous 7,8,or 9 lb whatever you set it at from idle to WOT that's what the fuel regular is for at WOT it stays open at idle it will return the fuel to the tank

So at idle, you set it to give enough when you are at wot. Makes sense. Which means at idle, or off idle .the regulator is giving the carb excess fuel, but it’s not a problem?

The carb will maintain the fuel at idle and when you go WOT the power valve in the carb ( which is controlled by vacuum) will open and supply the carb with the fuel it needs to keep from running dry

You have the float bowl and needle to control the fuel at idle

i i got a 1990 k5 blazer and 700 r4 trans im gonna convert my blazer to carb with the 700 r4 do i have to get a coverter lockup contoller some one said with out that i will burn my trans out...and what about the temp.switch thats in the front of intake by the thermostat housing

It wouldn't hurt to put one on the tranny if it make feel better about it but it's not going to burn up the tranny it has nothing to do with the shift it just locks up the converter when cruising in high gear it it will probably run the trans fluid a little hotter then normal you can get a trans cooler kits for that so it totally up to you. As for the temp switch it's for the electric fans its the one that's the AC uses to kick on the fans the one in the head is your normal temp sensor

Would these steps work with a 96 chevy 1500 only asking bc my 85 iroc has a carborated 350 and I'd rather have that then tbi on the chevy 1500

just so u know the 700r4 dose require sensor inputs for tcc such as tps temp and ect. you will not have tcc without them and your trans will run hot. but ive heard thats fine

I have a 89 dodge d150 just got a new 4 barrel intake for it and I think I’m going with a 650 carb but I need to find the right one that will work good for my truck, got any tips? Would I need a new distributor? And why if so

If it's a stock 318 the 650 will be fine, as far as the distributor I believe it's will be ok to, I think them dodges still have the magnetic pick up in them.

Do you keep the computer & main harness to run everything else? You are essentially just removing the wiring (of no longer needed/ or redirected to run carb) from the main harness? Thank you.

That's is correct, all the wiring I unhooked from the TBI I tucked away in the wiring harness.

I'm looking to convert my 93 Chevy Silverado TBI 350 to carb, cuz I am so tired of trying to chase down electronic gremlins in a 30 year old fuel injected setup. Do you happen to have an extensive parts list that I'd need to buy if I was to try to do it myself?

I'm doing the same conversion but on 454 thing is I'm swapping the engine into a 1500 silverado with a. 4.3 you think everything will still work the same

I'm swapping the trannie as well I'm sure the 454 will destroy the stock 460 but I've been worried about electronic controlled transmission not working

Everything should be the same for the 454, as far as the tranny I think if I was doing this conversion I would go with a 400 turbo and not worry about the electronic tranny or put a 4L60 not the 4L60E the 4L60 is a converter lock up but they sell aftermarket switches for that so you don't need a computer or electronic for it to operate.

i bet you got a whole lot more hp taking that computer out of there..i got a 1990 k5 blazer with the tbi and im going to convert mind but i havent decided if im going to go with a carb. or efi sniper yet..i just had my engine rebuild and did alot of up grades bigger cam tbi spacer had someome to custom my chip and i change regulator spring to 18 psi spring i got 700r4 trans up graded my torque converter..i could not get my truck to run right at all no power..it has been a real nightmare..i should had did all this at frist..

If I have a 4l60e transmission do I need the trans cable bracket?

The 4l60E is a totally electronic transmission everything is controlled by the computer so the carb bracket is going to be different because you don't need the bracket for the TV cable.

Hey man I picked up a 77 GMC Sierra K15 and it came with a 350 TBI out of a 88 Suburban. I've been gathering all the parts I need to do the carb swap. I've kept the stock cam, any idea what the base timing should be. I have the exact same intake and carb setup like you?

I believed it should be about 12 or 13 degrees and the total timing should be about 32 degrees

Did you have to hard wire the fuel pump? I have an 82 vette.

No I did not have to hard wire it, it's all the factory wiring

We don't have any emissions in my state so I really didn't have to worry about any of that.

I'm not sure what your asking me. The fuel pump would be working if the car is running.

@@napiershotrodshop4519 Not sure if your still active on KZbin but yes this happened to me for some weird reason the in-tank pump only squirted with the ignition being on but after that nothing came out

You should get a 950, I would get a used 950 that looks to be in good shape just not be beat up and linkage is not bent up then have it dipped and put a new kit in it and your ready to skinner back. The 950 to me seems to be a better source of fuel than a 750, when jetting 750 it can or will not perform then get it out and it do that to you. Someone give me a carter carb that was awesome but I heard sometime a carter will not take your engine and there is nothing you can do but change it out.

I just used brass fittings to go from the factory hard line to the fuel pressure regulator and then out to the carb

@@napiershotrodshop4519 I picked up a jasper motor that has tbi intake I’m replacing the motor in my 76 gmc which is carb of course but I’m not to sure about slotting the center bolts I want the right intake to bolt up correctly

You can get the correct aftermarket intake for the angle center bolts they have in in all brands just make sure the intake matches your heads

@@napiershotrodshop4519 see that’s the part I’m having a hard time making sure they do this is my first motor swap I have the cast numbers for my heads but when I search for carb intakes for the heads it keeps giving the same standard 55-86 intake
