I've done a video on the best way to declutter your wardrobe, but when it comes to shoes, bags, accessories & even jewellery, I have an even better approach. With the help of my mum, I'm going to share an updated step-by-step decluttering guide as we declutter her shoe collection 😉

(Note for myself) 1st row = items you love and wear all the time 2nd row = items you like but wear less frequently 3rd row = special items you wear 1-10 times a year 4th row = items you haven't worn in a year or ever

I do this with my beauty and bathroom products (daily, weekly, monthly and rarely) but never thought to do it with accessories or clothes. So smart, Kim!

Excellent video ! I have a small suggestion. Turn one shoe with the toe facing you and the other shoe with the heel facing you. That way you see the total shoe and can better see your options.

I would put one shoe toe /heel and its mate heel/toe, gives a better view and saves space. Love the 4 row concept.

I bought some nice new sandals today. I went home, threw my old dirty torn four year old ones out. I'd cleaned them several times, they are worn out, they soak up water and arent good for me any longer. Theyre calling to me from the garbage, they want me to clean them up and put them in the shoe bin where they will never get used again. Garbage day is in five days... Hope I stay strong. I use a cobbler for my two pairs of boots, have two nice pairs of tennis shoes and abiut five others, rubber and snow boots and such. I think it was okay to throw those sandals out! I thanked them for their service. I got them at the coast with a now dead friend.... Oh man 😆

I had the same problem - then we decided to move to Europe & I got busy! 2 things that saved me…1) selling on Poshmark & brand FB sites (I felt so much better knowing someone who loved them as much as I did would get to feel awesome in my much loved gorgeous things truly brought me joy - and a little cash) 2) I had a small closet & extra bedroom that I used & just let the process take as long as it took - I cleared things out that I didnt use & put them in my sale closet, when I went through the listing process sometimes I would say ‘why am I getting rid of this?’ Try it on and say - ‘oh yeah now I remember’ or ‘I need to keep this!’ Out of a 100’+ closet I think I sold 80% and kept 5 items over 2 yrs….hope this helps : )

I could never go down to forty pairs. Iam in the process of unwillingly giving away my 4 inch heels, now that I reached an age where I look at them and feel the pain.

@@KimBedene thank you, I will check it out. I think my bigger issue is that I may be a "just in case" person. I can declutter anything else, but shoes (sneakers), are totally my weakness. Also, up until 5 months ago I had two jobs that required two completely different styles of dressing. That on top of my normal everyday dress. I quit my primary job of 16 years, so now I just work one. I have gotten rid of a good bit due to this, but...
