Mk does feel like chess. I saw lots of improvement the moment I stopped getting salty and realized that it's all about adaption & gameplan. So, the summary is that: 1) You have a pre-determined strategy in mind when going into a match, that is dictated by the pros and cons of you and your opponent's main fighter and kameo. 2) Strategy consists mainly of a flow chart, that is based on whether the opponent blocks or gets hits (each of the two have separate gameplans/ flow chart). 3) Flowchart must be developed for each character/ kameo combination, preferably before you go into the match, in practice mode. 4) As you become more fluent and confident in your base level strategy, you then add layers on top of it, that consist of several layers of mind-games/ flows, keeping in view the counter strategy that your opponent can use against your base strategy and so on. 5) Every strategy has a risk and a counter to it. You just need to figure it out.
