The Best Way To Jack Up A Subaru STI

There are six official jack points on a 2015-2021 WRX. These are under the front differential pan, on the rear differential and the four pinch welds on the frame near the wheels. The front differential pan is almost impossible to access with a jack unfortunately. I have been using the jack behind the frame pinch weld point and put the jack stand on the pinch weld instead without any problems. I have checked for dents and there are none. The rear differential is relatively accessible. This is much like what is explained in this video.

ive jacked mine up from a similar point and it kinda mushed the sideskirt plastic on the actual pinch weld/frame rail. Do you have the same experience

Make sure you are further back. My side skirts are totally fine after jacking up on this point for years. Depends on your jack pad as well. If it’s larger and sharper, it could do that to the side skirt.

Can this be done on 2022-2024 VB’s??? I have the same jack and hate having to jack it from the front, like you said it doesn’t reach, so I have to use the factory scissor jack first to get all the way under via front

so i have a 17 sti, i'm not lowered and i'm probably gonna have to pick up that jack. but what i'm wondering is did your car have all those under trays on it? or were they cut back? i'm debating on taking them off but i'm not familiar with the car so i dunno what's under there. i also noticed there's a fair amount of gravel in them (i live in ohio where shoulders are gavel and people can't stay off them). so i'm wondering your take...

There’s no specific spot. Just the edge wheeee the frame and the side skirt sit. No cutting required.

1 ton is 2000lbs. Wrx weighs 3,400. 2 ton jack and stands is more than enough.

Hey Chris. I have been jacking my car for the past 2 days and using the jack points is a pain. When jacking it in the middle are you placing the jack under the plastic underbody tray? I believe my frame rail is covered in a plastic cover that can crack under stess

It’s the back end of the side skirt. It’s the frame rail that’s under the side skirt in the back.

Personally, I’ve never had to do any maintenance on mine. If it’s used daily then it makes sense, but for how much I use mine, I’ve never had too.

Where did you get your radiator cap? You can also buy a pinch weld adapter for the jack. So you don’t ruin your pinch weld.

This jack already has pinch grooves so your pinch weld doesn’t get damaged, if you’re super paranoid just place a microfiber towel on the jack
