You are right about not bothering to learn the fretboard notes. This is a cool way of learning the application, however, is where the challenge lies. I hate this kind of practise but the trick is perseverance. Thanks for yours!

I like to think using musical objects…I like your “comb”. Thanks for that!

Firstly, can’t wait to get to our lessons. Secondly, a great method Derryl Gabel had me do back in the day that really got me knowing the notes is taking each string through the cycle of 5th/4ths. You can totally do that with these tools guys. It’ll really help too!

I've always found notes relative to ones that are easily recognizable by the shapes of intervals i.e. what the minor third looks like as a plot to infer what note your playing in relation to the "root note." As I type this out I'm realizing that this is an insane way to approach the idea. I apologize if it doesn't make any sense.
@julesbrunton1728Ай бұрын
It's not insane at all. Fretboard geometry is what you need to know. You can find an octave easily, 2 frets up, two strings down (obviously the b string is the exception) or any interval. Don't know why you say it's insane 😢

This sounds like a good system. Could you explain how you quickly know the note a minor third up from any note? For most cases you just count up two letters and then add a flat, but then there are obviously exceptions and it takes some mental energy to work out whether you're dealing with one. Do you just know your key signatures really well?

And then you switch to some weird open tuning and everything goes to shit… Great lesson dude! And the graphics are much more chill (until 13:00)!
