That does limit some of your crafting options, but if you are still allowed to use scissors I've got you covered. Here is a video where I make a cardboard project with just scissors. Hmm, that is quite a bit more tricky. You could stab one of the shears through the cardboard and spin in a circle to create a small hole. To actually be able to cover the scissors the whole would need to be very big. I might make a video on this in the future.... It's a good idea. Happy crafting! Eli

Very helpful vid! I was trying to figure how to make a neater looking hole on my poster in order to hang it and I was wanting the method using the x but wasnt sure how to do it. Thank you so much now I dont have to run out and get a hole puncher now!

Hi Eli so thankful to have found your awsome channel!! I too am a great lover of cardboard as can make so much out of the damn stuff. I just ordered myself some A6 sheets of corrugated cardboard1/8inch depth from amazon which saves me a bit of time cutting up various boxes lol,, im in the process of making some bunting/banners :) Was wondering if you have any ideas on how to tidy up the edges of corrugated cardboard ?? many thanks from the UK,, :),,PS: i have that same hole punch and its one of my favourite little tools ^^ :)

Thank you for the comment, I am glad to help fellow cardboard lovers. I have done a few things to hide the ugly edge of cardboard, the most effective way is to fold it when possible (especially if you are making a corner). Thank you so much for the compliments! (-: Masking tape might work to cover the edges, but it typically isn't used for permanent applications. It tends to peel off fairly easily. If you cut a thin strip of masking tape, you could put it on just the corrugation, but I don't think there's enough service area for it to get a good grip. If you folded the tape over the edges, I think it would look like you taped up all of the edges and painted over it. In other words, I imagine that you would still be able to see the point at which the tape stops in the cardboard starts. Looking forward to hearing from you about the cardboard. - Eli

@@MakerBrain Hi Eli thank you for your comment . The cardboard arrived earlier than expected and to be honest its not too bad. I ordered 100 ,,,A6 sheets and came nicely packed . I made my first bunting and what i did to hide the ugliness of the cardboard is, i covered it with kitchen towel using PVA which gave the cardboard even more strength and it hid the edges and then i painted over it. Came out wonderful for a base and then i stuck my pictures on :) The hole punch didnt work lol ,,as cardboard too thick so i used my engraving tool to make the holes,, . I mean you can use a screw or nail to poke holes through as well i guess ^^ ,, All in all the cardboard is ok and i would order again . I guess other sizes will be ok too ,, in my next comment i send you the link ,, have a wonderful day Eli ,, Tina :)

@@MakerBrain i didnt use masking tape in the end ,, i PVA glued kitchen towel over it both sides and neatly folded edges in so the whole thing was nicely covered. and then i painted over it using acrylics which then gave the cardboard a stronger base. For my project because im making buntings i glued fluffy wool on the edges as well which gave a lovely vibe to my cat bunting ^^

Do you have a way to cut the really small holes in very dense cardboard?

If you can't punch through with a needle of some kind I would recommend using a drill. I share a few tips for drilling through cardboard in this video: kzbin.info/www/bejne/aYvTn6qQn5WAn8k But this video is about drilling through multiple layers, not dense cardboard. I hope this helps, - Eli
