The cheapest of cheap skates on KZbin and they'll probably take this as a compliment. And every single bit of their build looks cheap and for that reason I wouldn't follow a single thing they advise. Super, super, stingy. I'm amazed they could even afford the paint.

I started doing self build camper vans 30 yrs ago,using a sponge roller in white to do a giant chocolate brown ups van,and rolled others,now these cheap electric sprayers are out now Im going to deffo use this/your method,no orange peel effect that you get with roller, 150 dollar to make the van fresh n clean is a no brainer,and quicker,smoother than brushes and rollers.you done a good job.spending 2-3k on pro- paint jobs is waste of money on old vans.well done :)

I’m curious to hear how it’s holding up over time? It certainly looks good when freshly applied.
@IMEEMADE2 жыл бұрын
Thank you! It's holding up really well so far. Although the shine has significantly went away so it does look a bit matte now. It may have been able to keep the shine if we waxed or ceramic coated it, but the van is too big for us to tackle that haha
@HAL-dm1eh2 жыл бұрын
@@IMEEMADE I have experience with this paint and know too well what you're saying. It oxidizes much easier than automotive grade enamels. But you did the super smart thing and added a hardener and prepped it well, so even though it may not shine for long, it is quite durable and will last you forever.
@JohnPedder Жыл бұрын
Better to ask how the paint is holding up after it has been through a few seasons, or at least 1. lol You asked this question within a few days or weeks of the video being made lmao. That being said, me wonders how the paint held up :D I didn't see if the car had clearcoat or a cut and polish after the fact.

@rdtradecraft4 ай бұрын
I'd like to try this on my van, but your ratios have me a bit confused. You said 4:2:1 paint to mineral spirits, to hardener. But your final consumption numbers are: just over 1/2 gallon of white paint(64-72oz, I estimate, 3/4ths gallon of mineral spirits(At 2 parts mineral spirits, thats32-36 oz, plus another 16 or so oz oz for the 4-3-2 first attempts with the green and white paint. I assume the rest was used to clean the paint gun etc.), and 3 pints of hardener(48 oz.). That's more like three parts hardener. Should that be three half-pints of hardener or did I miss something?

I think you did a really good job, it certainly looks much better. For myself I would have painted the recess that runs back from the top of the headlights in the same colour as the green base, athletically it would be a good look. Personally I have just started doing work with a similar sprayer and the finish is far superior to brush, roller or foam brushes. Once again, nice job!😊
