I practice the harmonica outside in my garden. I am not very good, which I don't mind, but I think the neighbors would like me to watch more of your videos.

Practice in your car (if you have one). It's a good sound proofed space....just not while you are driving!

Tim Trudeau I just turned 24 in March and picked up a special 20 and a blues harp from Hohner. I practice on the road at work and such and love watching his videos. Super knowledgeable. I try to focus on one thing and such. Working on technique right now and how to handle it before really playing a time. Have fun!

Just an outstanding lesson. I take lessons with a prominent teacher and I'm maybe an advanced beginner but these videos are a great supplement and a different perspective and best of all very concise and easy to follow. Great work.

I'm practicing harmonica and I love your show and your way of explaining your self. I can play key to the high way And can't hold out much longer by little Walter. But don't quit under stand the 12 bar blues pattern and the vibrato and it's going on 4 years now.

Thanks for the lesson, it was very helpful. I used to switch between these 3 areas. One day I used to train bend, in the other repertoire and never reached the goal of any.

Hi Arundhati - I would highly recommend transcribing music yourself - this will make you a much better player much quicker.

I've been playing harmonica for years i've never had any lessons i heard guy playing the blues but had no idea how they were getting that sound i struggled for a while just playing melodys, then i asked one of the guys how he could bend a note i new it was being bent as i play guitar anyway i'll cut to the chase played at a lot of jam nights with some compliments was at vagas at my sons wedding and ended up playing with a band on the strip went down ok but i still cant play harmonica i cant get the feel and the tone that one needs to be a good harp player help

Hi Neil, thanks for posting a comment. You are not alone - a lot of people don’t know where to start with getting those bluesy techniques. I have a course that you might like called 12 Easy 12 Bar Blues which uses 12 songs to teach you various blues techniques. Here is more info about it - tomlinharmonicaschool.com/p/12-easy-12-bar-blues-for-beginners1

I like you videos and always learn from them, however for some reason this one has lots of reverb so much that the dialogue can't be understood. any way keep up the good work, maybe it's on my end if others haven't this issue.

I am interested in learning to play harmonica, but I am NOT interested in the Blues. Where should I look?
@pedropinon25536 жыл бұрын
You are original mate. Anywhere probably on internet... Whether you look for "jazz harmonica", or "funk harmonica", country, etc, I'm sure you'll find tones of results. I've even seen guys who teach you how to play Bailando from Enrique Iglesias. Not my style, but definitely easy to find things on the internet. Welcome yo 21st century haha. Pd: i suggest you to learn blues with the harp, not only because it is useful for the "simple" techniques they used to use that are aplicable to other "more complex" genres, but also because it is so easy (at least that's my case) that you think you don't like blues because of you have never tried to listen or play it. I can tell you that neither I did want to work the blues, but as soon as I saw myself improvising "quiet decently" on my first month of practice, I started to love the blues, it's ease to express my self through that, and its possibilities to get you "wiser" musically speaking. I swear now blues is my favourite genre since the 3 years I've been playing It, and, best of all, when I bought this instrument I was convinced that I'd become 'the greatest funk player". Maybe I Will, cause all of what I've learnt on blues makes It easier to perform funk, but blues gave me something new.
