I love category 1 Hyatts. The Alila Kuala Lumpur looks amazing and I don't think you need to worry about it being too far away from the city center. The rideshare app, Grab, is extremely affordable and I stayed at Hilton Petling Jaya which is further away from the center than the Alila and I had no problem using Grab to where I wanted to go

Good call on the alila in KL. Gonna stay there 2 nights in nov. I see the location is not the best, but being right on a MRT, it should make travel easier. As for redemptions, do u book hotels under 2 cpp?

very nice hotels in Kyoto cost like $100-200/night. so i think this PH kyoto is just a way they get people to redeem alot of points with them with people feeling like it was worth it. But i think comparing to the $$$ for properties nearby it doesnt worth $1200-1600.. and yes it would make more sense if it was cat4 and 15k

I've noticed this with most Hyatt properties. Your calculated value might be 2-3 cpp, but if you compare it to the other comparable hotels in the area, the CPP goes down drastically

I would disagree. You could say that for almost any luxury hotel in a major city. They don't normally have many days open to redeem for points, so if that is the plan, they need to make it easier to redeem points there 😄.

I just hit 20 nights and am hitting 30 nights on my trip to Japan and Thailand. I selected club lounge access as my 20 night milestone award. I now have club access in Thailand and Japan... do you get club access with globalist? Do you just get 2k points as your milestone reward?

I chose the 2k point stay for my milestone benefit. The club pass doesn't do me any good being a Globalist.
