Another benefit of using a smaller diameter hook is less of a hole in the bass' mouth when you hook them. Some people might not care, but I notice a difference and I would prefer to put smaller holes in the fishes mouth.

THANK YOU! I've been using toothpicks for over 20 years. Never had a problem with them and toothpicks are way cheaper than the bobber stops. Great video!

After going through so many bobber stops from changing baits and weights, I just couldn't take it anymore because they are expensive. I've recently switched to toothpicks and it's really been working for me. Really wish I would have thought of rhis years ago. Congrats on the 60k!!

👍👍 Glad to see some love for using toothpicks for sinker stoppers. I’ve used them for years without one line failure. I even keep a straightened out paper clip in my sinker box to pop the broke off toothpick out of the weight.

I like the tip on using the toothpick, I had plenty of luck tho on a 3 ewg hook with penetrating the hook a 2nd time so you don’t get hung up/ get caught on weeds. Congrats on the 60k subs Randy!

Like the trick, putting the hook through the body and moving it around to make a Channel. I’m still trying to back reel. Haven’t got the hang of it yet!

Thanks Randy. Really great info. The only pitching/flipping I’ve done is a jig into narly lay down root balls and that was after one of your videos last year about pitching jigs and finesse jigs. I had great success doing that last year and now you have motivated me to try the creature baits! Thanks for such great content and helping me to grow in my angling experience. I sincerely appreciate it. When is your next tourney?

Bobber stoppers get knocked up the line with heavy weights. Then slide back down and can knock the hook out the fish. Use rubber pegs on heavy sinkers

I haven’t figured out how to hook them straight yet. At some point, I have to just throw it the way it is.

I find it interesting you don't like using an ewg.. I absolutely will not use a flipping or punching hook, lost too many fish using them.. i use a heavy gauge wire ewg there is a catch, you have to use the biggest one the bait will allow
@adventureswithfrodo27212 жыл бұрын
If you debarb the hook it will penetrate better.
@dylanforney7802 жыл бұрын
I’ve had better luck not pegging at all.No idea why. If I feel I need to peg it I throw a large size shaky head, without grass present of course.
@CasualBassGuy2 жыл бұрын
If you just make sure your baits lined and nicely uniformed, the bass will see a presentable crawdad that it would like to eat perfectly, but only if it’s not an EWG hook, and there’s not a bobber stop, otherwise he might not want to stay on the hook

@@lannyseals2084 May want to pay attention. He starts off by saying never peg. Then his example is a pegged texas rig. Now only a 🤡 would do that. Or a 🤡 may not have caught what he did.... Just saying 🤷♂️

And you never use a toothpick to peg anyway. The very definition of line damage. That exactly why the make rubber pegs.
