Sorry but you are filing backwards. Try inside out. The opposite way you are filing. I have owned and used this grinder for several years and it is a fine tool.

Great video, thank you for posting. I really love my Granberg! They're a terrific sharpener.

That's a nice tool. I like how it measures the raker heights. Also many of the small sharpeners don't adjust the cutter length. I would love to have the 12v one in the field. For the manual one it's a bit of a pain to change to a flat file for raker height. Thanks.

I may be wrong on this so it’s a question I guess. Opened mine today and I think the instructions and others on KZbin cut going towards the working edge, you have it the other way? What do you think?

Motorpig- since it is a hi speed rotary Cutter, it really doesn’t matter whether you come in from the front of the tooth or the back. This is not the case if you’re using a conventional chainsaw file which always files towards the front of the tooth.

I’m not being critical or making it personal but you’re obviously an amateur learning your way. I have both the Greenberg filing joint manual sharpener and the motorized version and I prefer the manual version. I don’t like the ultra high speed of the motor which can heat up the tooth and take out the temper; anyone who works with metal knows this as a fundamental principle. You do not want to drag the file backwards after the push stroke, you need to lift it away from the tooth to return to get ready to take another stroke, otherwise you are damaging your file. Also the rule is to have 20% of the file sitting above The tooth when filing no matter what method you use. Ultimately you want the profile of the sharp and his tooth to be correct, not too deep which makes Hey super sharp edge but dolls rapidly and you also don’t want it to be too high Which makes it cut poorly.

Some more constructive criticism, by your own admission you are a newbie and yet you’re making a video giving advice on a highly technical procedure. Also your chain should be tight when you sharpen itAnd yours is hanging sloppy loose.

I made the sloppy loose rookie mistake with the granberg. Good point👍

The last few seconds of your video showing using your finished sharpen the chain demonstrates what I’ve been saying. Your chain is not sharp and you’re having to fight with it to force it through making dust.
