Yeah, that works for newer models, I need a way to transfer from older model iPad that can't run on the latest IOS to a newer model that's telling me I need to use an iPad running IOS 14 to transfer.

Went through all the process plus it updated to IOS15.2 now it says it'll take 11hours, yes eleven hours - wtf. My internet speed is up to 20mb download and 0.7mbps upload. Does these sound normal?

Major gotcha: if your old ipad is connected to a keyboard, the Quick Update will not work. 🤬 I spent an hour and a half, with nothing happening on the new iPad, until I got the epiphany that maybe the new iPad was trying to connect to the freakin’ keyboard and not the old iPad. After I disconnected the keyboard, the Smart Update went forward OK. I have an Apple keyboard, you’d think the Apple instructions would warn about this.

My current device is an aging Dell Latitude business laptop that has gotten a lot slower over the years due to security fixes to work around Intel CPU bugs. I am considering getting the M1 MacBook Air to replace it, since there many Win/Mac only apps that I still use, but am waiting to see what hardware releases Apple does between now and Black Friday before doing anything. I also have some headphones that are broken. If they can’t be repaired, I might get a beats model that integrates well with my iPhone.
