Wow…I didn’t realize you could put that many eggs, flour & milk into a cast iron skillet…I have been making a similar recipe (omit) flour. I blend ingredients into blender & spread it onto parchment paper cookie sheet (it spreads on all 4 corners of parchment paper . Bake it for 350 degrees for 35 minutes. It is my go to…on my carnivore diet! I take a pizza slicer - cut 6 large square slices ! It’s my flatbread …its makes wonderful meat sandwiches( all protein too!) 👍🏻

I am going to have to try that!

I like mixing eggs, full fat mozzarella, and full fat Fage Greek yogurt and vary the spices. Delish flatbread, gluten free, carnivore ok too. Only problem is I always overeat it!

Isn’t that so strange how the same dish can be called so many names. On this one alone, I’ve heard German pancake and Yorkshire pudding. ❤️

german pancake is how I always knew it, Original Pancake House from the 70s😂 I wanted to make them, but couldnt fnd a recipe, so I use a popover recipe.

Kelly, your are such a great story teller. I so enjoy listening to you. Love your sense of humor and authenticity. Boy do you have eggs. I can’t believe it’s been six years since you moved to your homestead! I’ve followed you from nearly the beginning of your you tube vlogs! Your Dutch baby looks very similar to what we in the U.K. call Yorkshire pudding except we don’t put butter in it. It can be eaten savoury or sweet! When we were kids some of us had it with our roast dinner, I used to keep mine for desert and have it with jam! 😊

If you have a rooster, all your eggs will be fertilized lol. But as long as you collect your eggs daily (or twice daily if it's warm out), your eggs will be fine to eat. You can also check inside with a candler or strong flashlight, without breaking your eggs if you're worried.

Haha, YES!! Here it is…. DUTCH BABY RECIPE: • 9 eggs • 2 cups milk. Blend that. (I use an immersion blender) • 1 1/2 cups flour • pinch of salt and pepper • 5-6 tablespoons of melted butter. Blend. Pour a little butter in hot cast iron and then pour in batter and bake at 450 for 20-25 min! *Add a cup cottage cheese if you like added protein

Blessings from the UK, just love your channel. Those Dutch babies are like our Yorkshire puddings, fill them with meat and veg and gravy, or bits of sausage for Toad in the Hole. Will gladly send some of our rain to you 😂❤
@maryellencook9528Ай бұрын
@headland4440 PLEASE DO! And send enough that it will make it about 150-180 miles southwest of Beau and Kelly into Kerr County. The whole central and south central parts of Texas have been in drought conditions for over two years.

We are struggling to get 3 eggs a day from 17 girls. Granted 7 are my 3 yr old ladies but how are you getting that many eggs! Oh and we’re 2 retired old folks. 🤔 BTW my chicks from Ideal Poultry are the most vibrant rambunctious chicks I’ve ever had…even other Ideal chicks. 🐥
@BetterTogetherLifeАй бұрын
Oh wow. Well yes we have struggled with that in the past also. Honestly, the most increase in eggs we’ve seen is just allowing them to free range. Maybe it’s because we have the cows, but they are able to get so much extra forage.

I have s Dutch Baby recipe but have never tried it. I did not realise how easy it is to make. Will definitely be making this. Can you freeze leftovers? I am now a household of one. That was huge and would take me a month of eating it 3 times a day to finish it.😂😂😂

Hey Kelly, Dutch babys re.ind me of when i worked for Checs they had us making pancakes with your type of recipe. They used some fake butter in a can 😝. The pancake soaked up all the nasty fake butter...we called them Scuds🤭. Enjoy🎉 JO JO IN VT 👻🎃💞

I have that same blender...although it's likely newer and certainly hasn't been used nearly enough to get beat up, I'm a little anal about being careful with my stuff (I'm sure you're careful, but life happens LOL). I also kinda tend to go for the simpler tools more often because they are easier to clean up. Now, I am 75% German and have never heard of a German pancake. I think I"ve heard the name Dutch Baby but never paid any attention to it. But this sounds like a different take on a quiche, and even more like a Finnish breakfast dish a friend made when we stopped by when we were passing through Ontario. You seem the opposite to me when it comes to chickens. I really do enjoy them, but they suck too much of my energy away from other things that need to get done and keep me from recovering from my own old injuries, so we decided it's better not to have them. Pastured eggs and chicken are relatively easy to find, so it's not a total loss. We will be keeping on with pastured pork, pigs are actually super easy. Pastured turkey, or ANY turkey from a small grower, is impossible to find these days. We did enjoy heritage turkeys the first year we were here so will really consider getting them again, as we do know a very good breeder a couple hours north of us. We may possibly do ducks again because they are also very winter hardy here with minimal shelter (a friend keeps runner ducks literally in an open-front bale shelter all winter, nothing else!). But for this winter, no birds! I need time to put into my own health and maybe get back to some of my old hobbies.
