You say using these methods makes it as if you've just brought your bike, but my question is, it's like you've brought your bike where?
@Bazza47 Жыл бұрын
Thanks for making this video, I've used a similar method on my bike for years with other products (TFR, rather than snowfoam, XCP rather than ACF50 and a pet dryer) one thing I have found to my cost is don't wash your bike while it's still hot/warm, especially if you have a black engine as the resulting water spots are a devil to get rid of. One thing I do different to your video is I blow across the switch gear, not into it to draw the water out, rather than blow it further in. A pet dryer is a good compromise if you don't want to pay out for the far more expensive bike dryers and is easier to use than the leaf blower, plus there's no chance of getting grief from SWMBO if you forget to put her hairdryer back. A very sound process though, getting the worst off by a touchless prewash method and using the 2BM with microfibre products rather than sponges and other stuff before finally drying it off touchless too. As a final stage I always use some quick detailer and microfibre cloth to add some more protection.

Great vid, I'm going to have to try Snowfoam. Cleaning an MC without causing damage is a fair bit of work. We have extremely hard water where I live. I use is a CR Spotless DIC-20 dionizing rinser. It eliminates the need to dry altogether, just a thorough top to bottom DI rinse and let it air dry. After 3 years of use on 3 vehicles I'm still on the original filter media. Huge timesaver and if you have hard water no amount of air or towel drying will ever be enough to eliminate spot build up.

This has got to be one of the best most through tutorials for bike cleaning I have seen. Really good! Just got my first bike and passed my test at the start of the month. @TheAdventuresofPhilJones3 жыл бұрын
Hi Jim. You’re far too kind, I’m pleased you’re enjoying the video’s and thanks for the encouragement! Congratulations on passing your test. It is recommended you lube the chain every 200 miles or so but not many people do. Just keep an eye on the chain and lube when needed. If you’re riding in wet weather a lot then you’ll probably need to do it more often. Again it depends on how often you wash the bike. Just keep a close eye on the chain so it doesn’t dry out. You don’t want to over lube it either as it will fling everywhere including on your rear tyre! I hope that helps? 😁👍

Subscribed. I love your no nonsense approach. I watched your ACF50 vid and used it on my GSA. The next week it went into BMW, and they now do a video visula check when its in the shop. The techncian called out on the vid "Good to see its been ACF50'd". Re leafblower. Yes for electric, probably no for a petrol one? I think on petrol ones the 2 stroke exhaust blows out throgh the blower so that would get 2 stroke oil residue back on your bike. I've not see anyone say it on the comments so far Phil, so I'll say it. Do you fancy coming to do mine?

I'd recommend ditching the hair dryer, and buying a proper air blaster. Like from Metrovac, they make an assortment from small to large. The Sidekick model is the one I personally bought, and it's outstanding. It filters the intake air, so you can't accidentally fire grit at your bike, and it lightly warms the air as well. But primarily it just fires copious amounts of air at the bike. Absolutely ideal for when you just don't want water spots - sure, you could rinse the whole bike with deionized water as the very last step, that dries 100% clean because there are no minerals left in it to form drop marks, but if you don't do a rinse with deionized water, you just blast the bike dry with air and break up all the water drops before they can form marks.

Hi! Is there any issue if I wash the handlebar electronic buttons?
@TheAdventuresofPhilJones2 жыл бұрын
Hi Charlie. That’s a good question! Control switches on your handlebars are designed to get wet, saying that I have a couple of personal tips which might help. I try not to get them too wet when washing the bike. A soft brush or sponge with mild soapy water will remove any dirt. My top tip is two or three times a year, when the bike is clean and the switches are completely dry, is spray the switches with WD40. Don’t be afraid to give them a good coating outside and apply some in the gaps where your indicator switch moves for example. This helps keep the condensation and water out and keeps them in top condition, it also helps stop them getting too dirty in the first place. I hope this helps! 😁

Few millilitres in litre of water in sprayer. Do final rinse with it then blow down. Didn’t harm your dishes, metal spoons or you. Won’t harm bike. Spot free finish 👍

Fantastic Phil, you forgot to mention the key ingredient - PATIENCE! ;) I struggle to keep my bikes A1 as I ride through winter in North Scotland. Coming home in sleet in the dark makes it impossible to keep on top of. Currently, get pro ACF50 twice a year and hose down as often as possible. Plus there's the issue of deep cleaning removing the ACF50. Interestingly, in my last 2 trade-ins the dealer gave me a price for my bikes without even seeing them, makes me wonder, other than personal pride if it's worth the anxiety of trying to keep the bike pristine. Cheers.
@TheAdventuresofPhilJones3 жыл бұрын
You definitely need a bucket full of patience that’s for sure, I also find it therapeutic too! I’m sure your bike doesn’t stay clean for too long riding in those conditions. Personally, I’d do my best to keep the bike protected from the elements, I can understand you wouldn’t want to deep clean it after every time you went out. What bike are you riding? 😁👍

Thanks for your comments and tips. I think it may depend on how long you leave the Citrus Power on for and how hot the weather is, I haven’t had a problem with it. A really useful and well made video Phil, especially as I’ve recently purchased a new Africa Twin and would look at trying and keep it as it looks now, spotless. My only question is. If you’ve applied an AFC50 treatment to the bike, does using an agitator and snow foam remove the ACF50 coating? Looking forward to the next instalment. 👍
@TheAdventuresofPhilJones3 жыл бұрын
Thanks, Dave! 😊👍 Good question, I’ll be covering that in more detail in the next episode. Yes and No is the answer. I would definitely apply acf50 to any bike for the first time, Brand new or Used, it leaves an ultra thin film on the bike which works for up to 12 months. A lot of bikers use their bike in the winter and just hose the bike down after use. If you give it a thorough clean it will need topping up but the first layer helps fight corrosion. I would reapply to the most exposed areas after a wash and I have some tips and techniques for that so watch this space. All being well it will online Friday 19 March! 😁 I hope this has helped? Enjoy the Africa Twin! 😊👍

@TheAdventuresofPhilJones2 жыл бұрын
Thanks, I’m pleased it has helped! 👍 Nice bike, well done. 🙌 I’m always very careful when it comes to anything brakes, and although it doesn’t hurt to get Citrus Power on the discs I try to avoid it and just concentrate on the really dirty around the rotors. What I do is use Brake Disc Cleaner which is made for the job and is easy to use and works a treat. I’ve only recently started using it and it’s great. I’ll add it to my list of videos to create soon! As you say you can’t beat mild soap and water and a soft brush to be on the safe side if you are insure! I hope this helps, let me how you get on! 👊

Thank you for a very useful video. Here in Kentucky we have hard water and I finish the wash by pouring distilled water over the bike and in a sprayer to prevent any spotting. I have a 2017 Speed S just like yours. Usually I don't like stickers and the like added to a bike but your flags look like they belong there. Maybe Triumph should have done that at the factory. Can you tell me where they came from? Are they likely to damage the paint or be difficult to remove?
@TheAdventuresofPhilJones2 жыл бұрын
Hey! Thanks for your comments. I’ve heard a lot of people using distilled water, I’m pleased you found a fix! The Union Jack flag was already on the bike when I bought it. I removed all other stickers except these two as I agree it looks good. Normally, a hairdryer will loosen the glue and the stickers lift off, but you have to be careful about sun damage as it will be darker under the sticker, depending on how old the bike is, that’s another reason I left them on. Stay safe and thanks for watching 👊

Is it good to use a pressure washer for cleaning the motorcycle? And what about steam cleaners?
@TheAdventuresofPhilJones3 жыл бұрын
Hi. You can use a pressure washer as long as it’s not to high pressured as you could damage seals, stickers, and other sensitive parts. I have used a pressure washer a few times but I step back a few paces, just take it easy. I haven’t used a steam cleaner on a bike myself but again as long as you take it easy I can’t see why not. I’d research the steam cleaning approach if I was you. I hope that’s helped? 👍
