I have always gotten faith with Tri-Stringer, as the main weapon is strong in its own right. It's weird how the kits this weapon is getting are a bit comp-dependent, which can be a detriment or a blessing. But at least it's getting usage in competitive. I'm happy for the main weapon.

I think you're underestimating how well Killer Wail pairs with Inkbrush. It can paint surprisingly well, and with how cheap the special is, you can often get multiple specials per game. It's great to help deal with long-range picks, and helps threaten Chargers and Splatlings by forcing them to focus on dodging rather than attacking. It's less of a powerful special like Inkzooka, for sure, but you don't have to commit to it, which for how fast Inkbrush wants to be, is a blessing, as well as being able to throw Splat Bombs, its best way of threatening outside its range. At the same time, I can admit Killer Wail in general is just absolutely pitiful in its usefulness, especially compared to others. Especially if you're focusing on dodging it, it can do barely anything before it runs out, and while the recent changes make it easier to manage, it's still incredibly weak. I personally think buffing how wide it is would make it more valuable, as well as more important to dodge, making it easier for weapons such as Inkbrush to combo off of it, but we'll just have to see.

Killer Wail is in a weird spot right now. It really hurts the special that it doesn't put paint on the ground as the game speeds up more and more. Comboing off of killer wail means you have to be able to get in close. . .you can't usually fire wail off at close range without getting slaughtered.

Octobrush Nouveau is the best brush? I didn’t expect this at all. I thought it wasn’t the greatest because it had beacon. I also though Vanilla Inkbrush was the best with a good sub as well? But I guess Killer wail 5.1 has fallen off short lately. Hope a buff for Killer wail 5.1 comes out soon.

I feel like a really good thing for wail would be to change the speed of the lasers' movements. Right now, they follow the target and match their speed, making it really easy to avoid and ignore. I think they should make the lasers travel faster than the target to force them to actually try to dodge them. It would make it much more difficult to ignore and actually work as a displacement tool because things like chargers can't just strafe away while still holding ground

Beakons are a surprisingly good sub for some comps, Custom dualie squelchers also have beakons plus a not very good special (chumps) and are seeing much more use than their vanilla kit with Splat bomb of all things

Well, as an Inkbrush main, I would say the main weapon itself is better, since is more consistent attacking and inking. And, about the sub, well, it’s just a different play style; Splat Bomb allows Inkbrush to be more aggressive, since its explosion is the fastest one; Beacon works good with Octobrush, but you can’t relay on it, if you wanna play aggressively. About Killer Wail 5.1, I would say Inkbrush has the best synergy with it, because it’s pretty easy to mark your opponents from different angles as you’re running. Ink Storm is good as well, it’s just rather passive than aggressive, if you really wanna use it when attacking. So… if I would like to play more strategically, I would definitely play Octobrush Nouveau. In the other hand, when playing aggressive, Inkbrush is better.

@@loadingname4947 the problem with changing the speed to be faster than a player is that once a beam catches up to one, it's impossible to dodge and at global range. It becomes guaranteed damage, and without some other changes it would probably just be guaranteed kills at this point. They could then fix that with other things like a damage cap, or some fancier movement to the lasers like adding inertia so it can't stop or start moving as fast. Overall changing the speed at all essentially comes down to needing an entire rework anyways. I agree it needs a change or rework, but it's unfortunately not a simple fix.

I know that the brella is kind of like a shotgun weapon, but i think it could be MORE of a shotgun. it would be cool instead of spraying ink from the brella, its more of a upclose blast in a cone shaped ink blob instead of small droplets. I also think a (maybe?) good buff for undercover would be have a REALLY wide shot, so you can sort of focus on 2 people close to each other, along with making it a almost completly consistent 3-4 shot, AND increasing attack speed, and also a small durability buff and small damage increase when you hit someone with a shield. But idk im a casual player lol

I would be fine with keeping a vertical flick as it is if the damage actually reflected the absurd wait time. The fact that the vertical flick has the same min AND max damage as the horizontal flick is absurd, and a well-placed vertical flick should at least be a reliable kill at mid range, but it never ever is. I genuinely like dynamo where it is, it's just that the reliability problems are too difficult to overlook.

Vanilla tri-stringer is so much better for versatility. Having mist and wail allow you to play much closer because you're pretty safe if you need to retreat and mist combos really well with the sustained damage that you want to be putting out with it most of the time. Tri-stringer itself is far and away the best option in its niche if you can use it properly. Thermal ink with it is great because it allows you to pressure people from ridiculous angles and the ability to hit enemies like that is unparalleled from that range. The one-shot is also not that hard. Sure it's harder than the other options, but it's learnable to the point of being able to land all three projectiles indirectly with good reliability. The projectiles exploding after they land is also amazing and has more uses than I can even fit in this comment in a reasonable time.

Ight, so I just came up with a diper comp, v shot, zap, tenta sorrella, and obviously diper. The idea is diper and tent can set up traps, mining beacons, while zap and shot get ground until diper and tent get back and tent anchors more for an aggressive comp overall. What do you think? I should mention two beacons should be further back as safe options and one forward more as a trap. Also going to be building a diper set based around the kit instead of the main.

not even joking i literally played this comp earlier tonight lol (as the wiper player). it's not the worst thing in the world, but double skirmisher and especially when the other one is tent is kinda odd. tent plays relatively slow which makes it hard for wiper to play off of, and also the pacing of the game that each weapon wants to do clashes a lot. there are definitely other combos that go better tbh. even other double skirmish options, like wiper + brella or 96 deco are pretty good since the kits and main weps allow them to play with eachother and pair up more frequently, and it allows both weapons to use eachothers tools a lot better when fighting, like pushing up with inkjet or kraken, healing behind 96 wall after stalling, painting enemy feet with horizontals while brella holds shield up front, etc

I am still perplexed about Stringers being considered bad paint weapons, especially the Inkline-Kit. Am I doing something remarkable or does no one know how to play it? During the Deep Cut Splatfest I used it as my main and 1250p-ish was my average lowest paint output. I am constantly out-turfing Aerosprays and hold a current record of 1769p on the Inkline Tri-Stringer.

​@@Prismark To my knowledge, the issue is never its tap fire paint, cause it's very good paint overall, but its fully charged/partial charge shots. Tri-Stringer is flexible, but it's mainly used as a Backliner, so its full charged shots are the go to for pressuring opponents and securing kills. These shots are garbage when it comes to painting, especially when compared to the likes of a charger. It's even worse considering the ink trails are not always consistent and the time it takes to get them out is pretty long

The reason you are painting more than aerosprays is becuase they're bad, but also becuase you using tap shots to paint is overlapping with their effective painting range. The tap shot paint is a good strength, but backlines need good painting range at a distance especially when their other traits are inconsistent like tri stringer is.

There's also a difference between paint and paint at a distance. The Reef-Lux has great paint, but it only paints very close to itself. Same with the Tri-Stringer--when you're going for charged shots (especially full-charged), you don't paint that well, especially compared to a Splatling or an Explosher (which has the most similar role)
