Bought AX6000 on a Black Friday deal to replace a 3 year old high end linksys router that was having trouble keeping up since we cut the cord and now usually have one 1080p TV and one 4K TV streaming almost all the time. The old router started to drop all connections a couple of times a day. We have very heavy internet use with a family of 4 running 3 gaming computers, 2 TVs, 1 Echo, 3 Dots, 2 tablets, 4 phones, 1 vacuum cleaner, 1 thermostat and a sprinkler system. The AX6000 was very easy to setup using the mobile app first and then the PC website to tweak a few settings. My son's gaming computer is the only WiFi 6 capable device we were able to test. He had about 200 Mbps before we installed the new router and has 400 Mbps with the new AX6000. 400 Mbps is the maximum speed that we pay for from our internet service provider. All of our other devices showed marked improvement in speeds just not double. The AX6000 has been running great since it was setup a few weeks ago. No problems and no dropped signals.

I own the TP-Link AX3000 (AX50), and I have owned and returned the TP-Link AX11000. Do not buy TP Link if you are willing to spend a small amount more and buy from better brands. TP-link dazzles with the marketing, amazes with specs vs pricepoint.. but owning their products has not been good to me. The AX3000 is 99% as good as the AX11000 outside of niche use cases for most peoples homes. I bought the AX11000 for the more beefy CPU and RAM in the router to handle more intra-network traffic like VR and 4K streaming. In every test, barely an upgrade from AX3000 to the AX11000. Tri-band wireless was nice and gave better network speeds farther from the router but we're talking about 10mbps from maybe 1-3 yards further away than the AX3000. Worst thing really about the AX11000 was the awful....AWFUL software. So many things given a "Gaming " label only to be the same basic, featureless features setup in my AX3000. Gaming Accelerator, don't use this it will mess with the speeds of all your devices in unexpected ways. QoS settings, you have to edit the download and upload speed of the download and upload caps in order for this router not to do its own faulty internet speed test...then adjusting your network speeds based on the faulty and often dramtically lower speed test it has done. Do not recommend the AX10000 and its identical cousin the AX11000. AX6000 is far better value but mostly the AX3000 is more than enough to even support basic wireless VR streaming, and 1080P streaming content. For better than that? The AX6000 is better but honestly after years of owning TP-Link and encountering their BS...I'm not buying their products anymore. I work from home, their devices more than once made it impossible to work. Not losing money when Asus is rock solid for 10% more spend.

If you want amazing wifi speeds over a large distance or trough walls I would get the AX11000. I have it because my old routers which was 2x Tenda AC6 (1 transmitter and 1 repeater) could only manage 80 mbps download speed on a perfect day with ping of 40 - 100 on a 300 mbps network and the speed was usually much lower than that. When I changed to the TP-Link Archer AX11000 I got 300mbps download speed immediately and my ping got reduced to around 5ms and I have had that speed consistently everyday for months now and that's when the router is used alone without any repeater/range extenders. It is sending the signal from one building to another one because I don't live in the building where the router is standing so the signal goes trough 2 walls and maybe about 8-10 meters distance outside and I still have 300mbps on the 5GHz band.

I have a BIG set of important questions. Our household is connected currently via Verizon DSL, and it's not very good. There is a cable TV option that folks claim is better, but we're wondering about cellular. We're in a very hilly rural area, but fiber optic is not taking off here. Verizon does not offer FIOS here, and there are apparently no plans to do so. 1: is there a way to create a WiFi 6 home network based on a cellular subscription? We're thinking about dumping Verizon DSL and the landline entirely. That means either doing phone and internet over cable TV or doing cellular. Are there any MiFi-like devices out there that can be plugged into a router like the ones in this video, or are they their own one-stop hot spot? Also, both of our cells are on Tracfone (pay-as-you-go, minutes-based service operating on AT&T / GSM-only towers) that we started using 15 years ago. 2: If we ditched Verizon landline and shifted to cell with a contract, how do we figure out which carrier offers best coverage of our home and what speeds to expect? Cellular is spotty around here, and the towers seem to be carrier-specific. (There's a Verizon Wireless tower on a hilltop a few miles from here, and our Tracfones don't pick up any signal from it.) 3: We have a Dymo label printer and some other USB devices, and an old HP laser printer with Ethernet. If we want to keep using them, are there inexpensive WiFi relays we can plug into these devices that will work with routers like the TPs you review in this video? What do we look for? What search terms? Right now, we have an old Westell DSL modem plugged into our Verizon landline. We strung out Ethernet cable to an Apple Airport base station, which is plugged into those other devices via USB and Ethernet. Thank you for your time and attention.
@wingsley4 жыл бұрын
The Westell modem was installed in Dec. 2002 when Verizon first offered DSL.

Wingsley- You should perform a Speed test (Speedtest.com) on your internet connection from a PC connected to your router by an Ethernet cable instead of WiFi. (Wifi is slower) Then bypass the router and connect your PC directly to your router and perform the same Speed test again. This will give you a good idea of your true DSL connection. I am on Spectrum Cable Internet and a while back I found out my router (Linksys AC1500) was causing me a slow down on even the Wired connections. Even though I paid for 100Mbps download speeds, my router couldn't handle more than 70 Mbps DOWN and sometimes no better than 50 Mbps. Your DSL connection may be even a lower speed than mine but if you are getting crappy downloading, it may be your router.

The argument used is wrong here. It's not that ISPs will ever provide over 1Gbps connections, the more important factor to consider is the REAL WORLD PERFORMANCE of these things. Router performance on the box can be twice or 6x the real world speeds you'll get, which IS the right reason to want the higher spec models. The 2400 marketed will likely be 300 in the real world, the 4800 to be 600, etc. etc. So if you do have a 1 gigabit service from your ISP, then you should look into the ones advertised as 11,000 or 6000mbps on the box, for you to get the most out of the service you're paying for. (For wireless devices that is) You could also just get a 10 dollar cable and a 20 dollar usb adapter to connect to your phone if you ever need those speeds on your phone for instance.

You dont need a new router if your internet plan only goes to 25mbps max, lol
@TrojanStarryNight4 жыл бұрын
Yes you do if you have multiple people all at once, new routers have lanes which each device can drive on. Not one lane and everything is backed up.

How often does TPLink update firmware?
@robertlee88054 жыл бұрын
Yeh thats what I like to know too. My Linksys only updated once then it went back to the old settings and Linksys wanted me to pay for the free update. Never buying a Linksys again. I read most of these only update up to 3 years then time to buy the newer technologies.

I know this video is old, however, I wouldl have more appreciated if the heating issue was also addressed with the Intel chips of TP-Link one which also causes disruptions and damage. I have researched on multiple website to reach this conclusion.

with 8 phones, 6 tablets, 4 laptops, 2 xbox, 4 smart tv, 2 locks, 16 bulbs, 6 amazon echos, 8 smartwatches, 3 printers, 2 NAS, on avg 6 guests and all other remaining useless stupid stuff....i think midrange ax6000 would be a good investment for next 5 years....until unless wifi 7 or 8 comes out.

A 'Gaming' router won't increase the bandwidth provided by your ISP. 500mb/s has only just become easily available here in the UK. Gigabit is still hard to come by. Gigabit Ethernet/ WiFi for Gigabit Fibre is about as far as you should be looking ahead. IMHO

If I'm paying for 400mbps down and I'm already getting that with my current wifi 5 router would I see an increase in speed by switching to wifi 6?
@paulm24675 жыл бұрын
Juan C. Alba it won't improve the speeds from your ISP, ( although it should give you the maximum speed possible), but it will improve the backhaul speed and capacity in a mesh so you can have more devices connected at full speed.

The Big thing about Wifi 6 is color codes your data communications eliminating interference from neighboring routers using innovative bss color. None expensive router as option. www.amazon.com/TP-Link-Wifi-AX1500-Smart-Router/dp/B07ZSDR49S/ref=asc_df_B07ZSDR49S/

I now regret ordering the ax50 (Tp-Link Archer) because Im seeing reviewers saying that the actually good features remain after a trial goes away. You end up paying a subscription to keep the features you thought you already had for free.

I read that the netgear 4XS nighthawks still has the best performance and MU MIMO functionality.
@BillAnt4 жыл бұрын
The actual performance also depends on the connected devices, if those don't support WiFi6 natively then no matter how powerful your router is, you'll never get the highest speeds.

I had the tp link ax11000 but after the oneMesh addition the speed dropped to 90 mbit. And still they deny the issue because I've read reports of months ago the first users issued this problem. After a phone call with their support they tried to blame my cables, I got tired of it. I've returned it and switched to Asus routers. Also their mesh solution is much better. Through my whole house 400+ mbit speeds now and stable.

How about mesh networking? Can any of these do it?
@Placesandspaces354 жыл бұрын
You should start the video with advising people about their modem. If the modem is crap it won’t matter what router they get. It will be crap too.
