Thank you for this! Our 1980s oak cabinets are the bane of my existence. Okay, maybe that's a little dramatic, but I greatly dislike them! I'm going to do this! Can I ask what grit sandpaper you used to sand before the the Aqua Coat? And did you use the same grit in all of the sanding?

New subscriber here. You did an amazing job!!!!! How many coats of aqua coat did you use?

Thank you SO much Adrienne! I appreciate that. I did one thick coat of Aquacoat and on the cabinet painting post that will be out Tuesday, I share the best products to minimize the grain even more.

thanks for the video,very helpful and timely. I am planning to repaint my cabinets.Should i start with sanding before adding aqua coat since my cabinets are already painted?

Go ahead and clean the cabinets and still sand even though they are painted. You are sanding just enough to remove the sheen, not trying to remove the paint. Hope this helps!

Hi Kathy: Why do you prefer Aquacoat over the spackle method?
@RenovatedFaith2 жыл бұрын
In the blog post, I mention the reasons but the main reason is that spackel will sometimes slip out of the grain grooves after it dries.

What is the consistency of the aqua coat, smooth, gritty, lumpy, watery? Do you stir it before applying? Thank you

It's a lot lighter than typical wood filler but not as light and fluffy as say whipped cream. It's somewhere in the middle.
