Lifting the day before a meet, hmm!..I always rested 2 to 3 days before a big meet. Would warm up about one hour before the even, stretching, dynamic short sprints. Then relax and let the muscles rest. Time for the meet BANG! first throw out there. I have read about athletes, throwers, doing olympic lifts, light snatch 3 hours before competition. Well what ever works for the athlete, and Jordan Davis is doing great.

I actually find it easier to throw right after workout, maybe because the implement feels so light compared to the weights you had just been lifting but the energy reserves are minimal and only good for a couple of throws before tiredness kicks in.

Why so much heavy work the day before a competition? Especially if it takes muscles, at least, 48 hours to recover from a training session. Shouldn't a few days rest, before a competition, be the order of the day? Just curious as to your reasoning.

Its not heavy for him. This is about 70% of his max on clean, which primes the CNS, and the pull overs are extremely light full ROM which is basically a shoulder / chest stretch With such light weight and fast movements, no muscle fiber breakdown occurs.
