I was at that show in Dublin in 2016. I was ten minutes late and missed "Don't fear the Reaper" It didn't matter. It was one of the best gigs I was ever at. I was supposed to be going for dinner with my wife and friends that evening, but I went to a craft beer bar first where there was an IPA tasting going on.... And after a .. few beers I thought.. "Let's blow off the dinner, and go to the the Blue Oyster Cult". I've seen Sabbath, Deep Purple, Canned Heat, Wishbone Ash, Page and Plant, Rory Gallagher, Judas Priest, Dio, and a host of Nordic Black metal bands... But BOC had never played Ireland. I grabbed a cab to the gig, and it was AWESOME. Some of the best guitar work I've ever seen. I'd love them to come back here. Everyone at the show was mesmerised by the show.

Huge BOC fan, my 1st show was June 28, 1977...we scored row 3, floor seats, dead centre. They had their soon to be outlawed, lazers, sharing them with Utopia's, pyramid themed stage show. Got to talk to Buck & Eric on Rockline radio, Halloween...I was allowed one question; Myself; "What's She's As Beautiful As A Foot, about?" Buck; Richard Meltzer wrote it wanting former frontman, Les Braunstein, to sound stupid. About a decade ago, I exchanged emails with Joe Bouchard, Albert's brother & former BOC bassist. A great guy...I inquired about his old, red, Guild Starfire bass. Over the years, I've seen them a dozen times, in about 6 different cities. Their latest album is really brilliant! Always great...keep on rockin'!!

Caught them that spring as well, up in Potsdam NY. They were at top of their game playing in tiny college hockey arena with an MSG sized show. I had Agents album,. then ran out and got the first 3 "Black and White" Albums right after. The Bouchards were from right down the road in Watertown (actually Clayton) NY. What a great band and those first 4 albums were killer. Great Great players......and that Laser show pre OSHA rules...wow!!! Never to be seen again.

I saw them when they played a gig in New York under the name Soft white under Belly. Sponsored by a then prominent Rock radio station 102.7 WNEW Fm where Rock lived 1967 - 1997 RIP 🪦

The Bouchard brothers were such an integral part of this band. No Bouchard's, no BOC. As far as vocals go, I always thought Buck and the Bouchard's were much stronger than their lead vocalist, Eric Bloom.
@Phuc_Socialist_You_Tube3 жыл бұрын
BINGO...Eric seems to control things now. I think he and buck wanted to get away from the Pearlman material, which really made the band. Albert was very much into the idea of a Pearlman based theme album ...Eric and Buck not so much. Buck has always been a popular music fan and wanted more Mainstream material. Mirrors taught him nothing....Rejecting the genre that made the band is mind-boggling considering that's where Buck's talent lies. He was always the first to say "We're not a Heavy Metal band" Yet the bands emblem is the alchemical symbol for the heaviest element. Want to confuse fans and record company marketers? It's tough to promote that. Go Figure!!

Eric's voice is shot now. Listen to some of the videos from the current tour. It kills me inside to see this, but then again, listen to David Lee Roth or Ian Gillan. Time has taken its toll.

@@Phuc_Socialist_You_Tube once albert was gone the band and material was never the same. I wish the first album had better production quality. Had it sounded like secret treaties they would have more commercial success earlier on. I never cared for the tyranny album , only liked 2 songs off it. Had they continued the formula like fire of unknown origins and stuff like secret treaties they would have done better in the later part of their careers. Too bad but i still love their music

I saw them for the first time in Charlotte North Carolina back in 1990 at the 1313 Club. Never got to see BOC preform live with Albert wish I could have. Came close once but it got rescheduled. Folks Go see these bands now while you can. I've been saying that for the past two decades. One Day Someday doesn't always come.

I was there at Jones Beach theatre in the pouring rain. It was great! With the lazers bouncing off the clouds. The theatre is set up more conventional now but back then there were the seats with a wooden dock out front and all my friends were out on that dock and then about 10 feet of water separated the dock from the boat/ stage. one of the many times I saw them back then and, I agree the band lost something when Albert & Joe left.

Speaking of the old bands like The Ventures, everybody who was an aspiring drummer learned how to play WipeOut by the Surfaris !!! Also if you were a guitar player, you "had" to learn this song !!!

I loved B.O.C Live in concert 1979. I came for Boston and maybe Heart. Nazareth was great then a band I never heard of called Van Halen on their 2nd tour. Started my fandom right then as Eddie Van Halen played eruption. But B.O.C. saved the rock festival after Sammy Hagar laid an egg after Van Halen. All I heard was The Red rocker not even his name. This arrogant bastard sucked. Was a big Blue oyster cult fan after that contest.
