Like how Etho did a terrible in-broad-daylight sneak to steal the brewing stand from Cleo's death chest; but then you watch BigB's episode and realize everyone was frantic about the betrayal, arguing between themselves and no one noticed him sneaking in, despite all the noise he made. lol

The man was by himself and far too trusting. Would have been unfortunate to have him be on red, but at least then BigB would have kept his allies and avoid having to look over his shoulder 24/7. Alternatively: Team up with Ren to PVP a duo like Scott/Pearl or Grian/Mumbo . Not exactly a safe option, but better than what he did. People assume their safe traveling in pairs so having two boogeymen on the same team SHOULD be an advantage.

On my last life rewatch, and looking back, I didn’t realise how many casual interactions Cleo had with Joel. Dude was literally running the server, looking for bases to trap and people to kill, and she just approaches him and asks how his day is going. So friendly, so chill. “I’m looking for someone to murder” “oh are you? Good luck with that. Maybe go for these people over here.” Iconic. They were alone with the crazed, blood-thirsty red name (who’s very good at pvp) and yet he didn’t even think about attacking them - now that’s real power.

You're kinda missing the whole of them also being in alliances with cleo and bigb seeing as they're just neighbors. Cleo literally put in the effort to provide (sugarcane and sand) to both, if not, all of them. But lizzie still doubted cleo just because she's intimidating. She's like a good ally than anyone. Even warned lizzie about the trap joel set up under her door before dying THEN have the audacity to say she should have never trusted her. You try hearing that and you don't end up being wounded over another betrayal right after the other.
