It's not explosives in general that causes this, but it's the explosion of a bed. Because bed explosions are considered intentional game design and not explosions caused by the player. IIRC you can get the advancement by killing the dragon with TNT as long as you ignited it.

Since In my world I have a self killing area to drop player heads (giving me multiple heads for different armor stands) and it didn't drop the head or count as my kill with a button only with the bow/flint&steel. probably makes sense since pressure plate in temples would then count as player kills

Appreciate that you are completely transparent about how you do things, including having to 'cheat'. I'm same with my rather limited hardcore worlds... if I put the work in and the hours and hours to figure something out, and then it goes pearshaped, I judge whether I allow myself to 'cheat' in some way. My theory is we play for our enjoyment, and grinding for no reward isn't my idea of enjoyment. Plus I'm an old woman, and life's too bloody short, frankly! :D I noticed the mouse hovering over 'Open to LAN' when you had a warden right behind you ;) You seemed to escape ok, but I'd be lying if I said I'd never had to resort to that in dire situations! The netherite upgrade template is found only in bastions. Guaranteed in a specific treasure bastion chest, random in other chests. You won't find one in a fortress sadly.

You got the “free the end” advancement because when you initially fought the dragon your character didn’t do any damage to the dragon because you used beds. So now that the character did damage it counted towards the achievement.

In 24w10a you can stack sharpness, smite and BoA, and infinity and mending on bows, basically anything you can’t normally put on together you can in that one using a grindstone, put 2 items of the same type in the grindstone, the top will get the enchantments from the bottom added onto its own without check if they can be put together, don’t combine the items, take the top item out and you will now have an item with mutually exclusive enchantments on it

Ay the way. A much easier way of trapping villagers is digging a decent sized 2 deep hole, placing beds in there, then ringing a bell or waiting for it to turn night. Add fences around it as well so zombies etc can’t get in.

The reason why you didn't get the Free the End advancement originally is because you killed it with beds. Bed, respawn anchor and end crystal explosions do not count as the player damaging an entity even if you are the one clicking on it, it counts as environment damage. You need to hit the dragon yourself (with tnt, a bow or a regular hit) within 5 seconds of it dying to count it as being killed by you to get Free the End.

The first dragon kill was with beds, which doesn’t grant the advancement because it wasn’t directly from you. Strangely enough, I think TNT grants the advancement because it’s tied to the player, but I could be wrong

There is technically a way to farm andesite through piglin bartering farm for quartz and a cobblestone farm for cobble to make diorite, and then diorite with more cobble to make andesite. Same way in which you can 'farm' granite with diorite and then extra quartz. Especially with the addition of auto-crafters.

There is a way of farming granite by combining 2 diorite and 2 quarts, then to get the diorite comebine 2 cobblestone and 2 quarts they to farm the quarts from making a goldfarm and trading the gold with piglins.

To get that armor there is a method, basically you need to start again until you get the enchants from villagers put them on the armor and the get back to your version. You can check sb737 getting his helmet back in one of the last videos

I'm surprised someone hasn't written a mod / external tool yet to effectively do the reverse of what the game does when it upgrades a world from before 1.20.3 to versions above that. Would making downgrading for things like god armor, update suppression (sliced portals, etc.), rare mobs, etc. pretty straightforward again. 🤔🤷 By the way, once you have a silk touch pickaxe if you use that to mine Nether Gold ore, and then smelt the ore block, you get a full ingot (9 nuggets) rather than the 4-8 nuggets you get on average with an unenchanted/Fortune I/II/III pickaxe. Great start to a new series, just be careful not to let any of your armor/Elytra break! 😉
