@@photographer8486get a good camera you can carry everywhere (rx100 is good for that) set it to p mode and learn composition. If you want have more control of you exposure just use the exposure compensation dial. For example: if you shoot in the dark you should compensate-1 or -2 stops if you shoot in very bright light then you overexposure +1. But really do focus more on composition… Thats way more important than learning to shoot in manual mode. Nobody will care about your perfect exposure if you do not have anything interesting to tell with your image.

I owned both. Owned, because last weekend I sold my RX100m3. It is a very nice little camera which i enjoyed using on a trip to NYC and on the go back home. However, I did not like some things. When on, the camera always has the fragile tube extended. For me, always having a camera on and in hand, that extension is a proper no-no. Also, I did not really like the controls and menus, even after customization. Did not really like the RAW files too much. Yes they were good, but not to the level of my Fuji X100s. I kept my slower, less pixel X100s. Because shooting with it is addictive, the camera is always ready to go and the RAW and JPG files ar beautiful. The size is a thing, though. So, in short; for all the people liking the RX100 over the X100; buy a Ricoh GR. Maybe I should done that too.
@BUCKSHOTSTV10 ай бұрын
I have the rx100ii and the x100v. The Sony is such a mood killer to me to shoot with. I just started playing with it again, hence me watching this video, but I just prefer shooting with dials on the Body. That feels more natural to me since I learned photography on film before digital cameras were out. Plus I also look into the evf always. It’s weird looking at an lcd screen with the camera held away from me. I’m just honestly surprised the camera turned on after being in a drawer for the last 8+ years
@jaspervos434510 ай бұрын
@@BUCKSHOTSTV One good customization is using the center button for Exposure. You hit it and then turn the ring around it. For the rest, it will always be a super quality pocket camera, with not enough fun.

I really do wonder if the camera I actually want is a Ricoh GR with a 40mm lens. I love my A6400 but it's bigger than I want for quick travel and casual shooting. The RX100V has been good, but the smaller sensor and noise is noticeable and feels like too much of a compromise at times.

One thing to note is there is a noticeable bump in image quality from Mark 2 to 3 and Mark 1-5 have a lower aperture than 6-7, so those are slightly better for street or landscape photos. If you shoot in daylight or sun a lot, Mark 3-5 have a built in ND filter which the 6-7 do not. Imo, the best model is the 3 considering used market prices. I bought my RX100 III three years ago near mint w chargers and strap for about $450. The 5 is good too but I’ve seen them go for $600-700 or more on MPB and KEH which is crazy to be paying that much for a “pocket” camera. With that money you might as well get a few years old M43 or APS-C body paired w a good lens for better photos to get your money’s worth.

I agree with several points. The jpeg film profiles are great, but waaaaayyyy more is made of this than what is really there for me. I'm one like you who sees no point in running out to drop ~$2k on a new camera, (never mind the lenses), when the camera you have will let you do this to some extent, (in camera) or this can be adjusted in post. I agree having the biggest, baddest, sharpest thing out there has it's place but not absolutely requisite to take great photos and videos and enjoy the photography experience. KZbin and every camera manufacturer have us decided into thinking that camera or lens of yester year no longer takes great photos and you need to drop a few thousand to recapture the experience.

great video. Used prices have gone up dramatically though. I bought myself the Sony ZV1 (around 500$) wich basically has the same internals as the RX100 mVI but it is build from plastic and the RX100 series is a tiny bit more convenient for Photography (manual dials). Image quality they are the same. I used to have bigger cameras with lenses and I never took them with me. So I first scaled down to Fuji X100F. Had great fun with it for 7 years, but even the Fuji was just a bit too big. So the Sony is really compact. I hear people ask what about the 1 inch sensor. Well, the sensor is very good. For me it is also important that it can print up to A3 size photos and they then should be sharp. And it does!! :-) I hope your video inspires people to have a look at compact cameras since they are very cool.
