This show is pretty underrated I think - great hosts, nice pace and fun to play along with.

First off, big thanks for sharing this. :) To my surprise, GSN accidentally showed the very end of an ABC promo around the 19:21 mark, listing Donny & Marie airing "Friday 8:00" and "Marie's Birthday Special!" airing "Sunday 7:00". Per TV listings, the latter was a Donny & Marie repeat that aired October 23, 1977, which puts this episode during the week of 10/17 (possibly even airing on 10/17 itself, given that a question at 19:56 mentions "October 18 of this year" in the future tense).

Also in circulation that day is the episode of "Family Feud" where Richard says it's Howard Felsher's Birthday. Wink Martindale's Social Media has already posted that.

I remember some Areas couldn't pickup The Better Sex because it was on at Noon and those Areas that didn't show The Better Sex had The News at Noon instead, then the ABC Soaps started with Ryan's Hope at 12:30 and Ended with General Hospital at 3:00 [I forget when The Edge of Night came to ABC].

When Sarah announced that "men" was the correct answer to the game-winning question for the ladies (the ladies wiped the floor with the men), you could hear Bill saying "Ooh!" as the peppy winning music played, the bells rang, and one of the two copies of the "Better" word in the title slid over to the ladies' side (each side had one that went to that side, depending on which side won).

almost reminds me of Family Feud with the late Richard Dawson I wonder did The Better Sex and Family Feud share the same stage? I remember Dawson saying this looks like The Better Sex also, I wonder did Bruce Forsyth's Hot Streak share the same stage with Feud or American Bandstand?

Interesting to see what episodes exist out there for this lost series. Don’t know if this one was uploaded before to YT

This show wasn't air in Philadelphia Pennsylvania on WPVI channel 6 because of the noon news local. A UHF station pick it up to be shown in Philadelphia.

It would strong competition from the young and the restless (cbs) and to say the least (nbc). The $20,000 pyramid replaced the better sex in the winter of 1978.

Honestly, that's kind of an awesome theme song. Almost like if Frank Zappa was asked to compose a theme on the spot. And holy cripes, how could someone not know the Porky Pig question?!

The men's team is every male stereotype from the 1970's: Dick Van Patten with a thinstache, feathered hair Sean Cassidy, Mr. "I'm Italian and I love the Godfather movies", the guy no woman wanted to see sitting in a bar when they walked in (aka, greasy hair/greasy smile), Bob Ross with a stache, and the non-threatening funny black guy.

If this Mark Goodson-Bill Todman Productions game show is brought back by who owns their library catalog and properties; Fremantle Media, the theme music (Hormonal Imbalance, composed by John Franklin Grimsley for Score Productions, Inc.) and cues should be kept the same. Same story for the set design. Ditto for the classic sound effects and electronic voting paddles. Who cares if this is 2024? What announcer of now sounds similar to Gene Wood?

Not that complicated: one team starts in the "attack" position. The host asks one member of the team a question and then gives them a card with the correct answer on it. They can either use that or come up with a bluff. The members of the opposing team either agree or disagree until 2 votes go either way. If those 2 agree or disagree correctly the "attacker" is out as is a player of their choice and they assume the attack position. If they're wrong they are out. The game continues until an entire is out, the winners win $1,000 and play the bonus game. In the bonus game the team plays 30 members of the audience of the opposite sex. Each member of the team gets 1 question to try to fool as many members of the audience as possible. If they fool them all within the 6 questions they win $5,000. Otherwise the remaining audience members split $500.
