This is a carom table, which was popular prior to pocket billiard games. As a pool player, it was quite painful watching Jed whittling his pool sticks. lol In Carom, points are scored with billiards (hitting 2 balls with the Cue Ball), the more popular modern version is 3 Cushion Carom, requiring hitting 3 rails with the CB prior to a collision with the 2nd object ball. Quite a challenge in Cue Ball control and table angle knowledge. In the earlier version, breaks by the elite became extraordinarily large, such that they might not miss a shot for hours. Same happened with English Billiards, despite the much larger table size.

Sonny is not only an AWFUL character with his ENORMOUS ego, but when he took his robe off; GROSSE! I can't believe they had a grown MAN play the part of Elly's supposed boyfriend Elly's 18, and Sonny's 35 (YA OK)
