Buddy Ebsen was first choice to play the Tin Man in Wizard of Oz. But he was hospitalized in the first hour of filming because a clueless make-up artist painted his face and hands with a mixture of cold cream and aluminum powder. (To get the tin man look) He nearly died of metal poisening. Was laid up for weeks, they had to continue shooting, so the understudy was drafted.

Charles Manson's intended target was music producer Terry Melcher (son of Doris Day) along with anybody else who was there. Melcher had met with the family for the purpose of signing a record contract if Melcher liked what he heard. He didn't. Being polite he told Manson "I'm sorry but I just wouldn't know how to classify what you people do." A few months later Manson decided to target him but didn't know that Melcher had moved from that residence, and Sharon Tate was living there with her husband, film director Roman Polanski. They murdered five people at that scene and the Labiancas two days later. They were convicted in 1971 of nine murders although they were probably responsible for more.

I agree with you; however, a while back, a lot of viewers were saying that I was leaving cast members out - so I expanded the video. I will do a poll asking what everyone thinks about trimming the videos down. It will be a lot less work for me 😀

The later picture of Irene Ryan is wrong. That's Martha Raye (1916-1994). Also, Irene Ryan died from a stroke in 1973.

Sad; it's bound to happen one of these days. There are only 2 Beatles and 1 Monkee left, no Stooges or Marx's or Laurel&Hardy. Our favourite idols are dying-though newer ones will replace them (or not; I hate it when my old chrs.are recanted by completely different actors and prefer to watch them on reruns on my Roku or dvds). If we can't accept that, how can we accept family members dying?

My comment has the goal to share an up building message full of hope. Jehovah God promises that those who have died will live again in Isaiah 26:19: "Your dead will live. My corpses will rise. Wake up and shout for joy, residents of the dust! For your dew is like the morning dew, and the earth will let those who are powerless in death live again." He will bring them back to life; that is the hope of the resurrection. Have a great peaceful day!
