I am a Catholic priest from Korea. Since my seminary days, I pondered whether there was an easier and more enjoyable way for Catholic believers to read the Bible. Eventually, I found a method for them

May I know the name of the bishop or priest who named the book "Bible"?
@CatholicCentralVideos3 жыл бұрын
Hi Thorvik, first of all, The Bible is not simply a book, but a collection of books. The term "bible" is simply from the Latin term "ta biblia" which means "The Books". This term was from the Greek τὰ βιβλία (koine). You can see the similarities in the Greek alphabet letters to the Latin.
@thorvilkwilliams95963 жыл бұрын
@@CatholicCentralVideos but who decided to called it "Bible"? Who is this person and what is his name?
@CatholicCentralVideos3 жыл бұрын
The original compilations of the books we now know as "The Bible" were translated from the Greek. The dialect of Greek these were written in was "Koine", that is why we call this collection "The Bible." We are not sure any one person actually said "We will call this 'The Bible.'" More likely they were using the term to let people know which translation they were using.

Catholics and everyone else should read the Bible everyday and the reason I post this is because the truth is in the Bible about God. How can one know the truth if they aren’t told it by anyone or they don’t read it from the Bible. The Bible holds some great truths on how to lead Godly life’s and how to avoid sinning against God. But if one never reads or hears the truth how can they know. It’s important to read the Bible to learn how to live right for God. 2 Timothy 3:16 All Scripture is inspired by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, for training in righteousness;

Azuka, we agree with you 100%. The Church urges all Catholics to read and meditate on scripture daily, and scripture readings during the Liturgy of The Word are a major part of every Mass 365 days a year. You may be interested to watch our episodes, "Lectio Divina" and "Ignatian Meditation," time-honored ways our Catholic tradition has of engaging the Bible at a deeply personal and transformative level. On behalf of all Christians, we are proud that the Catholic Church is responsible for assembling the Bible as we know it today, accomplished through the inspiration of the Holy Spirit at the Council of Rome in 382AD as the episode explains. We like to joke that the seven books later deleted from our original Bible and now considered "Apocrypha" by some Christians simply means that Catholics have "Extra Bible" for teaching, reproof, correction, and training in righteousness, to use your good words. You might also be interested in our other episodes related to the Bible - "The Pentateuch," "Prophets," "Gospels," "Pauline Letters," and "Revelation."

@CatholicCentralVideos4 жыл бұрын
Hi big fish Richie, it might interest you to know that we have a thorough theological review for every script and at every stage of production and post-production. Nothing we do or say is contrary to Catholic teaching. All that aside, we would also like to point out Augustine’s “Law of Love” which states that any interpretation of Scripture that goes against love of God and love of neighbor is an invalid interpretation. Burning heretics would definitely go against both love of God and neighbor. Also, as Catholics, we are opposed to capital punishment (Catechism of the Catholic Church 2267) and burning heretics would fall under that designation. Thank you for the blessing and we ask the same for you.

There is one God in this universe, and He is God, who created everything from nothing, and He is our Lord, and this is what the Islamic religion called us to, that is, to worship God alone, without partners, and it is the religion of truth, justice, and equality, and not as many distort it and describe it as terrorism. Man must search well for the truth and verify the sources.
@CatholicCentralVideos11 ай бұрын
We agree. Catholics also believe in one God with no partners.

"He is God, who created everything from nothing" You do realize that many "believers" discredit The Big Bang Theory, which says the universe was created when an atom (virtually nothing) exploded. In other words they complain that you can't get something (everything) from nothing.

God never told men to write the BIBLE. Men took it upon themselves and that's why there are so many errors. If God wrote the Bible or even inspired it than it would be perfect. That's what makes the whole thing wrong.
