Yes , even though written like 200 years after Jesus death , it is true , it is like all the true stories , we have heard from our parents that they were told by their parents , lot of which was told by their parents, parents and so on and so on . And I do also like parables, and the now explanation one priest gave ,he said the division Jesus meant was since some will not choose him even among own families will see lot of divisions. Thank u so much , I feel blessed at seeing u, keep up the so needed explanations, for my penance my favorite priest now deceased told me just continue to read bible daily specially the gospels . He was one that was to do my final blessing but his gone , I feel like an orphan , the next one I was already designated was transferred to Tennessee. O well May our Lord continue to bless u both , hopefully I will hear u again real soon.🙏🏽✝️👍✝️

Hi Felis Torres, thanks so much for sharing, and your kind words. Just to clarify, the Gospel of Mark probably dates from AD 66-70, Matthew and Luke around AD 85-90, and John AD 90-110. Meantime may God continue to guide your journey.

Look at the book. - The Four Gospels at a Glance - You will be amazed. Simple, understandeble, with a good overview. The synoptic problem has been eliminated. The author has managed to bring all four Gospels together in parallel. The books are accepted at many universities.

Hi Remko, there are several books that do this, and they can indeed be helpful in studying the Gospels. The purpose of this video was to give the viewer a sense of why they vary in their content.

thank you but i would say it is rather daring to say that Mark's Gospel was the first to be written as 1/ for 2,000 years the Church said Mathew was the earliest and 2/ even today many scholars maintain Mathew was the first Gospel

As a Muslim id require 4 witnesses for some situations. So I thought it would be interesting to apply this to the 4 gospels. Here is the summary…. 1:Jesus Begins His Ministry in Galilee 2:Jesus gives all he has, and subsequently Five Thousand people were fed 3: Jesus’ Triumphal Entry into Jerusalem 4:Jesus Foretells of a Betrayer in the Midst 5: Peter Denies Jesus 6: Pilate Pronounces Sentence Upon Jesus 7: They (The Ruling authorities) Crucified Jesus as “The King of The Jews” 8:Jesus Dies 9: Jesus is Buried in a Tomb (Sepulchre) 10:Some of his disciples Went to the Tomb (Sepulchre)and his body was not there

Hi @Akolgo_islam, thank you for your interesting and ecumenical take on the Gospels. Your argument is an interesting one. Some of the events you leave out though would have had the required four witnesses: the birth narrative, The Last Supper, and his appearance to the 11 in the upper room for instance.

As you most likely know, it is theorized that the Gospels of Matthew, Mark, and Luke all come from the same source, the "Q" source. John's is radically different. As Catholics, we believe that Jesus was both divine and human (we realize this is not a Muslim belief). The three Gospels that are similar (the "synoptic" Gospels) tend to dwell on Jesus' human nature while the Gospel of John tends to dwell more on his divine nature ("In the beginning was the word, In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. Jn 1:1). Because of these differences, you will find agreement in the three synoptic Gospels, with some differences (was the sermon on the "mount" or the "plain" or were they two different events?) but the same basic structure. John, while there are a couple of stories common to the other three, has a different tone. Each Gospel was written to a different audience and the way they are written tend to reflect that audience but they are all four the same story. When it comes to looking at all four, there are some good resources out there but you have to really look.

No where in the new testament is the destruction of the temple in 70 AD mentioned as a past event only as a future prophecy by Jesus. Yet your dating of the Gospels dates them as all post 70 AD. So are you saying that Jesus couldn't have prophesied the destruction of the temple ?

This is a fact that is often brought up, the thought being that if the Gospels were written post-Temple destruction, then the prophecy can be thought to have been made up and casting doubt on the validity of the whole NT. But, most of the material contained within the Gospels deals with the fulfillment of prophesies, so that argument, based solely on the Temple is baseless - to a degree, because everything in Jesus’ life, including His birth, is believed to be the fulfillment of prophecy. The other thing that needs to be noted is that the destruction of the Temple was linked to the Second Coming, and that has yet to happen. If you are going to write about something after it has happened and say that it was as prophesized, then you would need to make all of the prophecy true.

I cannot see any reason to date the Gospels after 70 AD other than disbelief in the temple destruction prophecy. I think many believers are propagating modernist rationalism, without realising.
