Lived in NYC my whole life and got my first apartment this month. Long story short, when apartment hunting if you like an apartment apply. If you love an apartment apply ASAP. The market moves quick, so you gotta come prepped with all your documents on your phone so you can apply the second you see the apartment. I know you love the Brooklyn social scene, but will most likely work in Manhattan, look in neighborhoods close to the trains you'll need for work. I landed my apartment from Zillow with no pictures, but it had a 3D tour and I love it! So don't be scared to book a tour even if you don't love/ can't see the photos; you might find out they're gems

Appartements in new jersey are waayy cheaper and more spacious than appartments in new york so probably try to look over there especially considering that you won't need to pay any new york taxes if you live in jersey city 😊
