As a geek/nerd I genuinely find the show funny and entertaining. It’s a show meant to dramatize nerd life and make fun of it in a light hearted way. People act like this show is actually offensive and problematic and it’s not, stop being so sensitive because as a nerd you know damn well there are things nerds do that are ridiculous. It’s a show, it’s funny.

I consider my self a nerd/geek etc. and I've never had a problem with this show. In fact I have a friend that is very much like Sheldon and can personally relate to parts of the show. I find the negativity aimed at this show to be quite inexplicable. I also don't understand how people can criticize this show for it's nerd stereotypes and at the same time be gushing over Stranger Things which also features nerd stereo types. I thinking some people just have a problem with the nerd label...? Maybe they themselves are not like Sheldon but I can assure you that there are people (nerds) out there that are just like him.

I watched until about midway through season 7 I believe but lost interest when it focused way too much on all of the relationship nonsense. Like most American sitcoms, I think it went on too long. However, just because someone doesn’t enjoy something why be happy it’s ending or getting canceled? It’s not like you have to watch it or it’s ruining your life. If people still enjoy it, let them enjoy it.

The Big Bang Theory at its best (the 1st 4 seasons, and a large chunk of the next 4-6 seasons) was one of the best sitcoms ever made. The writing and characters were clever and absolutely hilarious at times. Speaking as someone who considers myself a Nerd (of Scifi, music, sports, film, among other subjects), I have never understood why other "Nerds" take such offense to this show. If they are, they are taking this stuff and themselves far more serious than what is healthy. I mean get over it. The show is popular and at least a lot of us "Nerds" who like seeing some of our tastes represented.

I've never liked Game of Thrones. I don't feel rejoice that it's ending. I just ignore it and it matters not to me whether it continues or ends. Same goes for anything else that I don't care for. Don't let other people's enjoyment of things affect you.

IMHO... TBBT > Friends... Anyway... I think TBBT was a great show the first 5-6 years, then it felt like they started running out of ideas for the show, but it was making money, so they kept at it. It should end, but I don't think it is "America's shame". Thx.

I see TBBT as a first stab at making a geek culture show. They didn't really know how to do it. I wasn't offended by it, just realizing that. Go back and watch Revenge of the Nerds now. That is relatively accurate as to how nerds were seen in the 80's. We're making slow progress here. It must be great growing up now as a geek compared to what it was like in the 80's.

I don't hate it. I don't think it's great (in fact, it's rather mediocre as far as sit coms go, especially in this age of television), but I don't think it's completely terrible. It's not a show I'd binge watch all of the time, but if I'm scrolling through the channels searching for something to watch and turn my brain off for a while, I might watch an episode.

The show constantly made fun of and ridiculed nerds. It was never made to be relatable for nerds, it was made for people like Penny and that's fine. I enjoyed a few parts of the show, but learning that the main cast hate their roles and aren't into anything that would be deemed nerdy was disappointing to me. Also, the show constantly making fun of people like Sheldon, to the point of normalizing it, was pretty bad morally and stopped being funny after the first few episodes when it turned into beating a dead horse. Same goes for Raj and Howard ending up in situations that made them seem gay; funny the first few times, but to still see that gag going into season 12 ... They can, and have, done better.

I haven't watched it in years either, so I don't know how downhill it went. With that being said, why do people do this? Why do people act as if they are being forced to watch/read/listen to something if they don't like it? They have the option of not partaking in things they don't find enjoyable. Instead people choose to put time into things they hate, then complain about it or demand something gets cancelled because they have no willpower to stop watching shit they claim to not enjoy. Lost interest in this show and TV in general so I stopped watching. I am not interested in the Kardashians so I don't watch their show or read their articles or buy their products and then complain that I can't get away from them. Or people complaining that SNL and The Simpsons should have been cancelled years ago. If people are still watching, then they are going to keep making them. Watch something you enjoy for goodness sake.

I read that Mayim Bialik is pretty upset, but I’m sure she’ll pick up plenty of royalties since they hit syndication long ago. And, yes, TBBT had a corrosive effect on nerddom. But, knowing that it was all Sheldon’s decision to move on prevents me from gloating since that show obviously employs a lot more people than just him. But, I don’t really give that many fucks for anything American that isn’t on HBO, lately and specifically GoT & W.W. Really, I’m just (patiently) waiting for Trigger’s Superhuman Samurai Syber Squad Gridman and JJBA: Vento Aureo, while I pine for a new(er) Getter Robo or perhaps Studio Trigger getting the license to the Transformers! 🤩 P.S.: Nightflyers might turn out well but I’m still salty about having to pay Amazon’s ransom to watch The Expanse. 😔

As a life long Nerd before being a Nerd was cool I watched and enjoyed. I accepted it in the same vain as Archie Bunker made fun of whatever he was, Mash and Hogan's Heroes made fun really bad events in history, Family Ties made fun of conservatives, Mom makes fun of addiction, Seinfeld made fun of nothing, and .....well you get the idea. Just think how many bad shows have come and gone over the years. Just think how many shows get canned the first year out or even after just a couple episodes. Sometimes I ask myself who saw the pilot for some of these things and decided ha that looks like a winner?

I have to say I don't quite get the hate, especially if you are a nerd yourself. I really don't think you can be offended by the scientist/nerd parody that they depict in this show - it is completely harmless. I do wonder if there is a difference in opinions between people who are just into nerd culture in general, and scientists who are into nerd culture. I am the latter, and so are the four guys in the show, and I can relate to many aspects of their personalities. I definitely think my own family began to understand me a lot more thanks to this show when they too became fans. I love the show and still find it funny (also into Young Sheldon now), although it has gone on a bit too long, and like so many other comedies that run this long it has become more of a drama with some comedy, rather than a comedy with some drama. I already watch the repeats all the time, and long may they continue just like Friends.

I watched the first 7 or so seasons. Love the show. I even have the first 6 season on DVD. I am glad it's ending. 12 seasons is very respectable. It's time for it to end. A show can only last for so long. I feel the same way about other long running shows (past and present) like Supernatural, Scrubs, and Stargate SG1.

I don't understand all the hate around this show in these comments. I never knew it was there..... But I hide under a rock.... So there's allot of things I am not aware of.... But I enjoyed Big Bang Theory.... I haven't seen the last few seasons because I no longer have TV, & haven't bothered to torrent it yet (if even possible in this day & age) But idk if I am sad to see it go, it had a long run! But I have no hate towards it, & I am a geek. I understand this show isn't meant to be taken serious. its meant to be funny to a wide audience. Based on how many seasons it got.... I would say they succeeded. But yeah it's a show that anyone from someone the age of my grand mother can enjoy at 82, to middle aged people & 20 somethings. Not sure about the younger generations...... I don't interact with them.... lol But maybe them too.... idk....

As a young, nerdy professor, I found the show to be awesome -- as the _exact_ kind of person the show attempts to represent, of which it did an excellent job, for a "lowest common denominator" (LCD) show that was designed to replicate the life of young professors and appeal to the least nerdy in geekdom. The show made being a nerd cool. In fact, I would go so far as to say that it did a lot for superhero films, and that this show wouldn't have existed, without it. Oh, wait -- what a coincidence!!!! You both died at the same time. I was even given the nickname "Sheldon," by one year of my theory and research class grad students (master's and PhD students), which was used in a very _positive_ manner, and my 250-student undergrad class thought it was cool and funny as hell, when I told them that my grads had done that. It was really a great show, until they took that three-year extension to make it to ten years. Starting in season 8, the show totally jumped the shark -- or took a shit. That's the point at which they no longer focused on nerd-dom and went into all the relationship, marriage, and babies bullshit, to appeal to a broader audience with an even lower LCD -- meaning the public, at large. As such, I firmly believe that those who were offended are poseurs and/or those who are insecure about their nerdiness, from the start. Poseurs are like that, across behaviors of which one can be a wannabe. So, good. I hope they do feel bad... poseurs.
