@MasonKLutz Жыл бұрын
I may not be Chinese nor know too many words in Mandarin, but I have heard that the sounds are very important to make out the right words. With Sheldon, he didn't take into consideration that the tones are important when communicating when speaking.
@taiwandxt6493 Жыл бұрын
@@MasonKLutz Indeed, but the thing about tones is that they are very difficult to do properly if you didn't grow up speaking Mandarin or around many Mandarin speakers to kind of mimic the tone/accent. It's the most challenging language to learn, or at least one of them, for good reason.
@Wistbacka Жыл бұрын
I want to ask you, is the Chinese correct at all? Like when they tell him that he says the wrong phrases and corrects him, did he actually say those phrases, or is it just made up for comedic effect? And his argument in the restaurant. Is that also what he says, or just made up subtitles?

You have to practice really hard and also use a tone to add the accent. I think the accent parts are partly why people mispronounce the phrases. I speak some Mandarin myself, it took me ages to get it right, each time I said "Ni hao ma", I kept saying "meow mow nah" and a Chinese person would just glare at me as if they're thinking "Is that person smoking crack?!?"
@astrangeone9 жыл бұрын
+Hulkerine100 I speak Cantonese and it's so hard to try to get the Mandarin tones right. The only few things I know how to say are "Ni hao ma?" and "I am a Canadian." which really doesn't help. I can understand the basics if I know the context of the conversation.
