10 hours for a demo is insane. I had a blast with Penny's Big Breakaway and this has similar vibes so I'll have to check it out.

I was one of the first to unlock the completionist achievement, I got it less than an hour after the first patch that made it actually possible (some things were bugged and unobtainable on day 1) Aside from a few overly punishing reset points I absolutely adore this game, and it's just a prologue! Basically just a big sandbox with some obstacle courses in it! There are just very, very few games being made these days with brilliant game feel and overall charming vibes like this, and I couldn't be more excited for the full game.

I 100%-ed it twice Even if it's just a demo, tacklebox is a serious contender for best 3D platformer I've ever played The controls and momentum mechanics take quite a while to fully grasp but I loved figuring it all out as I went! The only reason I won't keep playing is because I don't want to get too good before the actual game comes out

I 100% the demo and i have some thoughts. First, I want a map. Second slightly decrease the gravity, or alternatively give the jump a tiny bit more hang time. And finally, I want some sort of quick save. Something similar to the soul link in Ori. Have it cost some sort of collectable resource to quick save.

I absolutely loved playing through the demo, the movement felt off at first but once i started figuring it out I absolutely loved speeding through the desert at high speeds just running and jumping on foot. and knocking those bomb bird things off their stilt leg is the most euphoric thing I've ever felt when fighting enemies in a platformer.

This "demo" alone is one of my favorite games ever. I don't even really play any games too often anymore, but this one has taken up all my free time ever since it came out. First game I've ever **really** sunk my teeth into speedrunning as well, and it's definitely made for it. There is no doubt that the main game will be incredible, I hope they take their time with it. I'm hoping for more in-depth secrets and easter eggs though, I'm sure there'll be at least a few? (Maybe Animal Well just corrupted my mind though.)

I finally got a chance to pick the demo up and play, and I thought the game looked great before but playing it is an entirely different story. Never has a 3D platformer tested me in the ways this game tests me. I’ve never had to think outside the box like this in any other 3D platformer. I’ve never been more immersed in the world and art style of a platformer like this game. Genuinely, just this demo alone has the potential to be one of the greatest 3D platformers ever made, and that says a lot about the potential of the full game. Cant recommend this demo enough!

Releasing tacklebox for everyone was a great decision. I’m pretty positive I’m buying the full game on release because I was able to play the demo. Those bomb enemies were really the only part of the game I didn’t like. It felt like they were waaaay too good at tracking your movement and they give you almost no room to breathe.

Just played this for the first time. What a feeling. It really reminded me of Jak III but way more pure platform which I love. Can't wait for the full game.

people saying how this game remind them of early 3D platformers. but i'm the only one who reminds of sonic? i don't know, the default character acceleration speed looks far faster than any typical 3D platformer (including indies), and the way slopes influence your character speed also looks sooo good man.

All this game needs is some more forgiving checkpoints and maybe a purpose for the coins. I hope at least the coins are more sensibly placed in the full version cause I'm not a fan of having to scale a tower just to jump off so that I can get some coins placed on a random pillar rather than anywhere else.

The difficulty people complain about was a lot of the fun for me, multiple times I'd leave an area stumped only to figure out a mechanic in another area of the map that let me progress on my return, I had a similar annoyance as you at the island with the projectiles but mainly from the flinging plants not flinging my half the time, felt real goofy just sitting there being chained stunned by mortars after releasing the thumbstick

Honestly calling it a "demo" feels like a bit of an insult tbh, they could have just straight up sold this with the amount of content that's here, it took me like 20 hours to 100% everything. I think the demo was perfect, got all the fish without any guides. The only gripe I have with the game is that level where the bom guy just keeps throwing bombs at you, that was really frustrating. Right now trying to convince my friends to play. (also nice vid)

Im really glad that people are having fun with this, and I hope the game is really successful cuz you can tell there's a lot of love put into it! Unfortunately if the game is gonna be a lot like the demo, it's gonna be a big turnoff for me :(. I don't think the demo teaches you the game very well at all. I understand if you're just totally hype on this game, and wanna experience everything then you have a lot of motivation to just push yourself forward and *get it*. But when I was playing I felt extremely aimless, and discouraged by failing at most of the challenges that I stumbled across. A lot of times I didn't even really understand what I was doing wrong/how the game wanted me to proceed in the first place. I did beat a few sections and it felt good! But for the most part, it left me feeling like the level design left much more to be desired. Not just in terms of raw difficulty, but in things like design language. It felt like the game was demanding perfection from me immediately and for most of the runtime. Im disappointed on a personal level, but if that's the kind of game they want/you want then more power to them/you! Still, Im sad that the game won't really be for me.

Ah I should probably mention that I love the graphics, the animations, the whole presentation is spectacular. Even the controls! Im more an advocate for changing the level design than those.

I hope the full game is even more challenging (harder platforming, more elaborate environments, enemies, maybe puzzles) and I only wonder if Tacklebox was too punishing at times. (punishment being the cost of failing a challenge) Any vertical area in which the ground is the start of a long platforming section can eat up a lot of time whenever you fall. I think it was mostly intentional, like with one tower which has a golden fish at the top, signaling that it was supposed to be difficult, and the stakes of falling and having to repeat most of the climb is the idea. I only started questioning it, when I realized that, often times it's less punishing to fall in a pit, or hazardous ground, take damage and return to the last stable platform you stood on, than it is to harmlessly land at the bottom of an area. Doesn't seem right to me. Otherwise, I thoroughly enjoyed Tacklebox, and it easily sold me on the full game. I only fear that my expectations are too high now. I got into that 4% of players, heheh! Good luck if you haven't yet, everybody. Take your time and get sucked in to the atmosphere and world. You'll naturally get there, I think.

Thanks for this video. After Pseudoregalia, i am fully into this kind of games. Open-ended 3D platforming metroidvania with no directions. This also gave me the same vibes with Pseudoregalia.

Yeah the thing this game has over pseudoregalia is that you have access to all your abilities from the start. There's no doubting if you're sequence breaking the game or that the platforming's just really difficult.

It's all the more important to spread word on the cool games that aren't as known wherever we can. From Rakugaki to Clash: Artifacts of Chaos, from Genokids to Cookie Cutter, from Blud to Soulstice, and many more. From these games mentioned, only Rakugaki is a 3D platformer, but the point stands. It's important to get word of the lesser-known games out there.

This game feels like the platforming equivalent of dark souls and I'm really grateful for that. Aside from how satisfying it is to figure the challenging sections out for myself, it meant that the game kicks off right from the beginning. I loved that there isn't a lengthy intro cut scene, the game just throws you into it and that's that. Can't wait to get more of it.

I like the game being hard, but it's sometimes way too punishing. And it doesn't help to experiment I wish there was a rewind time mechanic, it would make the game more fluid
