People who never played the original Mafia 1 don't realise how big of a deal it was and that it was ahead of it's time. The game was so hard too especially if you played this as a kid

I finished the original for the first time yesterday. You're right, it was an incredible game for its time. Although I loved the remake I can see why people preferred the original. I had to get the ps2 version though, no way I was doing that racing mission on pc lol

No game would be harder than gta 3 to play as a kid. I still find it difficult now that I'm 25. Wish Gta 3 and Vice City got a remake like Mafia to have better control and mechanics, instead of that remastered that only really improved the graphic and basically nothing else.

You forgot about the fuel. In original you can shoot the tank and the gas will leak on the ground. Then you can't drive the car.

DE is the same as Mafia II. If you shoot the petrol cap a couple of times, the car will explode. So it’s not the same but it’s still sort of there.

That's because Hangar 13 touched it. They ruined the Mafia franchise with M3, and were even able to ruin a classic game from 18 years ago. Disaster of a studio. Mafia 2 was the last great title, after that nothing was worth paying the price on the sticker. Take2 should have given the Mafia rights to another studio, but probably went with H13 because it cost half price.

You know it, They lierally had 2 years of development for this remake, they did their best with so little time, there is a reason why the game is not full priced. For 40$ this game is amazing. Same thing happend with mafia 3, h13 wanted to release the game in 2018, but who rushed them ? Guess. If you want to blame a shitty studio, blame their publisher. Hangar 13 is a good studio *now* like it or not... The opinions of some nostalgic boomers don't matter tho

I love how Mafia got a remake. They fixed shooting , driving , they expanded the story so we can learn more about the character , they replaced many dialogues , they changed voice actor and they also expanded the ending so it can be more satisfying

Shame! The developer of H13 was not able to copy the original 2002 script well. They only cut out a lot of everything from the game and disgraced the original with their ill-considered actions - Why did they even risk releasing such shit in an incomplete form? Not only is there no access to trains and trams, they cut out and simplified all the original content And called the game Definitive Edition-it's idiots, not developers)

Definitive edition is basically a re-skin of the shit show called Mafia 3. It's based on the same engine and thus has little similarities with original Mafia 1 and feels so empty like Mafia 3. I basically had refund against my purchase of this game after like 10/12 mins. Free roam is bullshit.
