I've got to say, I don't know anything about Final Fantasy or care about it all that much, but I trusted you as a creator and watching this all the way and was thoroughly entertained. You summed up the ridiculously spread apart story in a surprisingly concise (for 2 hours) way that was too the point but still interesting and emotional. Good stuff! Bought this game cause of ghe flying car on the back of the box, during play I thought there was going to be more then 1 map and we were gonna go on a grand adventure. No you stay in 1 area. Getting to the end of the game I read something that says you get the flying car after beating the game. I spent the whole game not doing what I bought it for. Playing it years later and doing some actual googling reveled the car part was at the top of the map and wasn't a quest given by cidny which means I could of done it way sooner

I’d like to point this out, I played the entire game thinking you could only play noct, so for the entire game I only played noct, never touched any of the other party members and never knew promto could use other weapons so he only used a handgun the entire time, I thought the game was super hard cause I didn’t use the skill tree cause I didn’t know it was a thing, I pretty much challenge ran the game and I didn’t find out any of this till I watched this video

1:41:48 personally I enjoy multimedia projects, I find them to be interesting because of the different ways a story can be told. Telling a story with a TV show will be different than putting it on paper, or in a game or song. Different mediums can show sides that would usually be glossed over somewhere else. Other than that love the video :)

I think freedom can work, but it needs some kind of mechanical hook in the way it interacts with the level up system giving a sense of progression. Shin Megami Tensei V i think does freedom of what you use in a way that perfectly combines the dopeamine dump of a level up through demon fusion, and giving you a level of customization by building their kits in fusion. Along with how you can develop the niche of your MC and develop your team to supplement him. It both increased replayability and makes your character feel like a role you're playing. it's cool

I heard that there was a theory. Where the game was ment to have bahamut as the true final boss. And noctis would fight him with along side Ardyn . As a sort of fight against fate. I especially since bahamut was the one who caused alll these events to happen over and over again

I don't think that's how it would go. The main core of the story is that Noctis is someone doomed by fate, but the people in his life rally together to make it worth living anyway. If he defies fate, there's basically no point to it anymore.

I think I really enjoyed the game because I'm not a Final Fantasy fan. So I wasn't expecting massive lore dumps like everyone else, or disappointed by admittedly braindead combat. I didn't play any of the side content and I must admit, I see some of the flaws and issues people point out, but overall, I think the game set out to make me feel a particular way and succeeded at every turn. I loved the characters, the bonding moments between friends, the big action set pieces, etc. I felt sad, then incredibly happy for prompto, I was sad about the death of lunafreya (I'm a sucker for romance and you don't have to do much to get me invested) I got mad at gladio when he decided I wasn't allowed to mope about my dead fiance while riding a train where I couldn't do anything anyway, I took some edgy satisfaction in the way Noctis' dialog changed after that, replacing his fun banter between friends with such lines as "die." when he pulled off big attacks, I realized the strength of Ignis' dedication I had taken for granted when he fought while blinded. I loved that the game made you suffer for it to really feel the pain of his tragic story, I loved when the game became linear because it felt dire and urgent and I didn't want to do sidequests once shit started to go down, I fucking cried at the ending and at that beautiful Florence and the Machine rendition of a classic song. I came away thinking that the game was far from a perfect game, but succeeded completely at what it was trying to do. It made me really feel something and has stuck with me as a result, so I wouldn't change it.

I've beaten the game twice, played over 200 hours and I'm now trying to 100% the game. My verdict. It's terrible, and I hate it. The game doesn't feel rushed, it feels procrastinated and I think this might be the one rare occasion where the developer owes the company an apology.

Considering the fact that Nomura kept changing the story of the game on an average of every three months for years. Effectively meaning that whatever his team made had to be scrapped. When Tabata was put in charge, he had to write an entire story and get the ffxv team to complete a game within three years based on nothing but concept art and poorly thought out ideas. And then, halfway through development, they had to stop what they were doing to learn how to code in a brand new engine and try to port or recreate everything they had built into the Luminous engine. On top of all of that, they had an extremely strict deadline that they could not go over. I think in that situation, Nomura and Square Enix owes Tabata and the team who made ffxv an apology. If Nomura could actually settle on what game he wanted to make or if Square hadn't forced Tabata and his team to switch engines halfway through development, then the game would have most likely been a lot better because the developers would have had more time to work on the actual game.

Im not the biggest fan of ff15 i actually hate the game that being said, Lunafreya is my favourite character in the game and i absolutely despise how they handled her character. She is a main character actually categorized as the main heroine and she is heavily underutilized and thats largely because they cut 90% of her character and backstory because people in the west didnt like its subject matter. It doesnt help that her character is watered down. Shes in 70% of the movie where the bulk of her character is 20% in the anime And 10% in the game and the game functions as if you already understand her character and role in the story. The book Remedies alot of that and actually turns her into a demon slaying Oracle of Darkness which is awesome There is a video of her doing combat though so thats a plus for me!

The games world really is crazy expansive, as in I feel like 95% of the map isn't playable. You should look into out of boundary videos, entire continents that you can't even play on and different islands that were nearly fleshed out completely. Game really did scrap a lot of amazing potential it had there. Makes me sad that they didn't nearly utilize all the work it had done on creating the world but not the lore of it.

I peaked at a handful of the free cam videos, the most I found was Lunas room in Tenebrae and highways in Cartanicca (implying you once drove to Gralae, instead of taking the train)

@@RowbyVids I saw footage of people using a chocobo to swim out of bounds into the sea and while doing so had access to the island of Angelgard, which I thought was really cool but might've just been a placeholder for Ardyn's dlc chapter or where Noctis woke up later on in the game, but they'd have to be thinking pretty far in advance considering how long it took to release. Also that entire city where you fought Leviathan had a lot more collision and moveable areas that felt really fleshed out despite being inaccessible. But yeah Cartanicca was huge, but I might've been overstating what I remember. They made Shiva's statue incredibly detailed compared to what you can see if you play the game normally. Found that there was also collision in places inaccessible around Tenebrae but Lunafreya's room was the most noteworthy. Haven't played since before the Royal Edition was released but I also recall people finding a glitch where you could fly freely during the final fight where he enters Prince Saiyan Blue and there was plenty to Insomnia that I don't know if they ended up being used later. Hell, recently I watched people out of bounds the small section of Insomnia in the Ardyn DLC which looked more than triple what was playable, maybe this is just a case of them putting way too much effort on the things that needed it the least.
