Hear you loud and clear from Chile. Always nice to see real science by real scientists. KZbin should have a category for professionals presenting primary data or research to peer groups. Then us laypeople wont have to rely on mainstream media to present the flavor of the day news concerning climate change or other science. Lo aprecio mucho Dr. Skov . Vaya con Dios
@TamithaSkov3 ай бұрын
That is a great idea. I do wish there would be a category that separated those with actual credentials in a topic from those who are more "armchair" scientists who are self-taught. That way people could more clearly curate content on different topics without having to research whether the person they are getting their information from really has the credentials they say they do.

Thank you for another informed post. The synchonized presentation of the ten flares was amazing. A suggestion for future presentations where notable events with probable aurora generation is predicted: Consider mentioning the impact of daylight. Given the main wave arrival at 12:00 UTC, for all of the United States but California and the West Coast, these visible aurora events will occur during daylight and will not be visually observable. Thanks again for your wonderful chalk talks. I hope the younger people here appreciate how much more public scientific information is available in 2024 as compared to the last major storm peak in 2003. Timely, dissemination of such informed scientific information just did not exist in 2003. I lived through both. 2003 was like living in the stone age without indoor plumbing compared to today. -:)

My sister-in-law just arrived on a flight from Denver to MSP, I did send a note to her to watch for Aurora to the north of that flight path (The route was north up to wyoming/montana, then east to msp. However I sent that too late (already in the air) and from her report the flight was turbulent heavy from as soon as they got to 10,000 feet, and all the way into MSP. For whatever reason, they turned an hour and 55 min flight into an hour and 25 minute flight, so the weather appears to have helped the flight time. Som tail wind. If you look at the national weather radar for the past few hours, you'll see that there was a lot of active ground weather over North and South Dakota. Which is part of why I'm not heading north now to see if I can get some Aurora photos. Aurora is great to get images of, cloud cover and rain, not so much. Lightning is a different story though, but I can get that pretty much any time. Maybe tomorrow night, I think the results of this solar train is likely to go for another day, or more.

Dr. Tamitha Skov. Have you had the chance to read the paper that Merav Opher published about the "Local Lynx of Cold Cloud", and its impact on the heliosphere when our solar system passed through it approximately 2 million years ago. I would love to hear your take on the processes that were in play that would lead the heliosphere to be compressed to less than 1 au.

I don't know if it helps on the Dipole, quadrapol, etc. But Dr. Becky did a bit on them as determined by the cosmic background radiation, with an interest in the fact that several of the multipole levels have an apparent orientation that coincides with Earths travel through the universe. But yes, you can learn the various pole orientations based on the radiation detected at microwave frequencies.

Can we not image in good detail somehow the different polarities of an ejection in multiple colours so that each CME can be routed from take off/ejection ? If we had an Ai that could individually select and colourise each CME and its extemes/borders, could we not then better our visualisation of the events? There must be a simple ish system we could use like this?

August's Golden Gleam August, a month of magic, sun-kissed and bright, A canvas of colors, a pure, dazzling light. With warmth in its heart and a gentle caress, It paints the world over in happiness. Days stretch like ribbons, golden and long, Filled with laughter, and sweet summer song. Ocean waves whisper, a rhythmic refrain, As sandy toes wiggle, free from life's chain. Fields of gold shimmer, with harvests in view, Nature's bounty, a colorful hue. Sweet berries and peaches, a taste of delight, Satisfying cravings, from morning to night. Fireflies dance, like tiny stars above, Igniting wonder, and a spirit of love. Bonfires crackle, stories unfold, Friends gather 'round, memories to hold. So let's celebrate August, its beauty untold, A month to cherish, with stories to unfold. From sunrise to sunset, its magic endures, Filling our hearts with joy, that forever endures.
