I was just searching for a way to play the Genesis version of Shadowrun legally instead of sleeping (which I do more often than one would think), when I noticed that the Sega Genesis Mini 2 actually has Shining Force CD installed on it! There is a legal and legit way to play this game in the 21st century! It has several Sega CD games on it, including Night Trap and Sewer Shark, unfortunately. They're available through Amazon. Due to licensing issues, I'll probably never find a way to play Shadowrun again. It was my favorite version of the game to come out. The hacking segments in particular were the best. It used to be in the old Genesis collection on Steam, but they took it out when they released a new version. Oh well.

@@orangeslash1667 I agree. Probably going to get it for Switch, but this last debacle with Persona 3 Reload might convince me to wait and see what kind of DLC nightmare awaits us.

I played Final Conflict and Shining Force CD, haven't played SFG 1 and 2 on game gear. Playing final conflict, I was very impressed how well they compressed Shining Force to handheld. Playing Shining Force CD, it's an amazing port, but you really lose a lot of the shining force experience not having explorable towns, that's something I really wish they put back in for the port from GG to Sega CD.

Old trick but don’t forget to drop all your protect rings at the end of the very first battle so you can buy them back from the deals section of the shop towards the end of the game when you have big money! They come in handy at the end for extra defense! Excited for the forthcoming installments!!!

Even better, you can get one the protect rings back as early as the 4th battle. In that battle you have the infinitely respawning dwarves that drop 80 gold. All you have to do surround his spawn spot, or use Shade if you want to be safe, and put a rubber band on the action button. Once you kill 125 of them you will have 10k gold to buy a protect ring.

I've literally never played a shining force game aside from I think I played the second one via emulator back in the early oughties for a couple of hours. Looks so cool though, totally up my alley.

The only thing that really bothered me about CD is the amount of reused names. Some of them are even the same classes which is even more confusing. Like Sarah, Eric, and Jaha.

I tried playing through this once, but made the stupid mistake of doing it on real hardware. The Sega CD didn't have enough space to store more than 2 saves so you can't do book 3 without the save cartridge, which I didn't (don't) have.

This continues to frustrate the heck out of me. There are tons of strategy RPGs selling great these days. We have Tactics Ogre Reborn, Triangle Strategy, and Fire Emblem selling great, and Persona 5 Tactica coming out soon. Why, in the name of the Sonic O. C. Wiki, has Sega not gifted us with a Shining Force game since before I was in high school? You did a video on the art book, so we have the characters modernized and updated. There's clearly interest among gamers. Why do you forsake your faithful legions, Sega? Do I need to make a ritual sacrifice of Super Mario games from an altar built on the roof of Nintendo HQ? It can probably be arranged. Just give us a new game. It doesn't have to be a remake or reboot, it doesn't have to use any of the original cast, and it can have a completely new plot. We'll still buy it. Just get it done already. Creative Assembly isn't doing anything worth a damn right now. Put them on it. They were the ones nuts enough to use actual VHS tapes in VCRs for Alien Isolation footage, and wiggled the analog cables to make the picture horrible. They know what life in the 90s was like. No one's going to buy Total War Pharaoh, so have them make a Shining Force game people actually want!!! Okay, rant over. Now to go hug a cat without getting clawed in the face this time. My cats are not particularly huggy...🐈

@@orangeslash1667 Oh, I've been looking at the shorts on their Japanese channel daily. The art is astounding, and the gameplay has Ogre Battle written all over it. Hyped.
