I'm watching this interview tonight because David Cosby has passed away. It could not have been a better interview with anyone but Dan Rather. Tonight I learned things I did not know about them. I laughed and enjoyed it so much. RIP David Crosby. You were one of 3 very unique musicians, that produced some great music. You will not be forgotten.

I had the pleasure spending a half a day with David Crosby, and yet I knew almost nothing about him. What you see in this interview, is how he really is. I was his driver, and he told me just about everything about his life in a nutshell. He said he’s grateful in this interview, and that’s the feeling he conveyed to me. I could tell he was happy to be alive, and cherished every moment. Btw, He treated me for lunch at a hole in the wall Mexican restaurant on Milpas in Santa Barbara, and then I dropped him off at his home in the Santa Ynez mountains. He let me go in his home, to use his bathroom too. I thought that was pretty cool too.

Yep, my father who passed away now spent an entire flight with him from China back to the U.S. and he said the exact same thing. Talked all about his life and problems etc. Real nice guy my father said.

The music of Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young is timeless. What a gift we've been given by them all. I'm 75, have sung rock and roll since I was 12. Their music is alive and well in Washington Square Park to this day. RIP David Crosby......thank you for all you, and your music brothers and sisters have given us.

I am in my 82nd year on this planet so I have heard and grown up with a lot of different styles of music. Listening to my parents play all of the big band sounds of the 30s and 40s and then the lyrical 50s and the beginings of rock and roll, folk, blues, hard and metal rock and all of the rest. Through all of that there have been individuals and groups that have never left my muscial thoughts. Crosby, Stills and Nash is always at the top of that list. There music and presentation of that music is and still is unique. A true blend of individuals into one seamless sound. Individual but complementing. Together but still separate. A rainbow of sound.

Your life kind of flashes back with all your deepest distant memories of friends, high school sweetheart, fun times you endured that you hold close to your heart. I was born in 1951 and yes, by the late 60's I knew this music , i was a hippie ( still am ), it sorta became a soundtrack for my life ......I'm so grateful for CSN&Y , JT, JM, AND ALL the musicians of that era .....it was a great time to be alive ! !

The industry. as well as the Beatles encouraged creativity. Consider that leader of the Rolling Stones. Brian Jones did with using a multitude of instruments that wouldn't even be considered today. Listen to Like a Rainbow, melotron, guitar.cello, brass and percussion all done by Brian. Also for those who didn't know, a toy piano was used .

Together with Stephen, Graham and Neil, he brought music live and on vinyl, wrote songs, harmonized in performances that changed music history. As he said, they wanted to leave THE edge, he did. I know I’m much younger than many of the people commenting here, but I grew up with my Dad in particular listening to their music so I’ve know it since as far back as I can remember. I’ve come to appreciate even more as an adult and choosing to listen to them on my own. There are no harmonies existing that can compare to them. The world has been lucky to experience these talented people. Im really enjoying these interviews and getting a more in depth glimpse into the life and times of these men. The world has lost an incredible talent, incredible spirit, incredible part of the music world with David’s passing. May he rest in peace.

I met David Crosby April 1970, Genesee Community College, Batavia New York... I did the light show for the Byrds... After the show he invited the entire stage crew to his Holliday Inn room.. We smoked, he played and all 15 of us had a ball in that small room.. David was the best of the best!!!! RIP David!!

As a Woodstock veteran who was exposed to the greats in person, this group personified the meaning of Woodstock. From their wonderful rendition of the song “Woodstock” to their incredible harmony which is what Woodstock” was all about but most of all, there was a very peaceful vibe that these guys produced in all that listened to their music. It was so distinct that one could only recognize the true artists they were. Great art is designed to evoke an emotion, without a doubt no one has ever evoked unity and harmony as these artists have!

I’ve followed Croz since early in The Byrds years. His voice is heaven sent. In 2009, while on vacation in FL, I was lucky enough to meet him and his wife Jan walking around EPCOT. It was surreal because he had no security around him and he blended into the crowd just like a regular tourist. He had his signature long hair tucked up under his big Panama hat and a Hawaiian shirt on, but I’d recognize that mustache ANYWHERE! I apologized for asking, but I had to get his autograph, just like a friggin’ teenager. I was so fan-boy’ed out! David’s been my musical hero since I was a kid! And here he was, standing right in front of me...He was so incredibly gracious about giving me the autograph, and then he thanked ME for being HIS FAN!!! Un-freakin’-believable! Later on that day, as coincidence would have it, I saw him again...this time he was seated just a few seats over from me at the American Gardens pavilion, essentially a concert bandshell on the lake. We watched Davy Jones of The Monkees (of all acts!) do his “Flower Power” musical show set. Talk about a crazy set of circumstances... A Rock & Roll ICON and a Pop Star I remember watching on TV as a kid... So bizarre...but truly memorable.

I just finished listening to Dan Rather's great interview with David, Stephen and Graham......and also as they included gracious comments concerning their fourth partner Neil. What a lovely time these four had as Dan maste4fully guided the questions and comments. My only regret is that Neil wasn't there to be included. Great job and great careers, guys! So sad that David died less than two weeks ago....... I graduated High School in June of 1969 and my best friend with whom I share the same birthday, went to Woodstock and actually heard these guys live! Ted Schempp

He couldn't be anybody else, for better or worse, he had to be true to himself. I don't think you can expect any better than that. As a young person fighting to get into the music world and determined to do it with as much integrity as possible, David Crosby was a touchstone and a guide for what to hang onto and what to avoid if possible. A lot of these guys went to places most people can't go and still survive let alone create art!!!😳

CSN and Y were so influential during my school years and I'm talking about late 80's early 90's. A school friend who I studied with kept on playing their tracks constantly. I'll never forget asking him to rewind 'You don't have to cry' over and over again. I'm still a fan now and will continue to be. They simply brought joy and happiness into my life, especially during those sometimes hard times. Thank you CSNY for your great music and thank you Father in heaven for allowing these special people to change the world by bringing all people closer together. Peace and love✌🏾

I'm fortunate to have seen CSN&Y live but there were two points on film that - for me at least - summed up their natural ability to harmonize. One was after their performance of Suite Judy Blue Eyes at Woodstock when they said "Thank you". The other was on this video when they said "No". Three words in total but all spontaneously in synch and in key.

Norma Tible I work at a small 2,000 seat theater back in the late 80’s. I saw a lot of comedians and musicians of the day, how they really are back stage. I always gave them a wide berth for judging who they really were. Not all were nice people. Maybe they were just in a bad mood at that time. Joan Rivers was easily the best. Stills was easily the worst. He blamed the people in attendance, the sound of theater, the way he was treated by the theater. Kenny Rogers, Willie Nelson, Wayne Newton and Kool and the Gang had the same crowd (most were season ticket holders) the acoustics were the same and they were treated the same. The only thing different was Stills was an ass.

NavvyMom there’s 2 sets of people in any show. There’s the talent and then there’s the production people. There are 2 rules: Production people never bother the talent, if they need to speak with talent, always go through proper channels. Talent doesn’t behave like an ass, if they do, they automatically lose because for the most part there’s always more production people at any given show than there is talent. Stills knew better, the show was over, nothing was going to change that. He knew that the best option was to get out of there, get in the car, voice his concerns to his management and next year, say “thanks but no thanks, sorry we have a scheduling conflict” if they want him back next year.

When 1965 arrived, I was 12. My dad was a medic in Vietnam from 1964-1969 when he came home alive. Music was an import and still is a big part of my life. But these 4 people were a big part of my life. I never met them, but their music did. Judy Collins, Melissa Manchester, jimmy Hendrix, The Jollies, Buffalo Springfield, Mamas and Pappas,Fifth Dimension and many others all had a profound influence on me.

My sonis 100% deaf in left ear, 20% in right and can only hear certain decibels...it's a very hard life at any age. My boy was 2.5 yrs old and it was a dumb accident that took his hearing. He too will be totally deaf at some point. He's 40 now.

However it happened, thank god they got together. There are certain voices that blend in a way that transcends the notes and harmonies they sing. Add in the incredible songwriting and arrangements and it was pure magic. It's the old saying about when the whole is greater than the sum of its parts. Never more true than with Crosby, Stills & Nash (& Young).

As one who came of age to Crosby, Stills, Nash (I first saw them at Woodstock, but had already fallen deeply in love with Suite Judy Blue Eyes) and all the combinations, I can honestly say that their music is what has reminded me to keep to my path, to walk the talk, all these years. And for that I am profoundly grateful. It isn’t only about the words or the tunes or the characters. It’s the profound resonance of their harmonies that penetrates to the depths of my spirit. That sounds so corny, but it’s true. Rest in Peace David Crosby.
