Private sector enterprises is also making huge debt and they're looting us. No one has any social responsibility or accountability to the public. But as far as public sector enterprises are concerned it's the people who're controlling the enterprises.. If people want some voice, enterprises should continue to be public sector enterprise..What is your opinion about recent yes bank debacle?!!. If we're moving to a less government mechanism the why do we need a election system?

Because government control doesn't automatically give control to gen pop. Leaving aside few debacles and isolated incidents private sector has always been much ahead despite less backing and financial support. Even the best of our PSUs can't match the performance of private sector despite so much of cash infusion. A private firm is vulnerable to competition and hence much more vigilant about its money. Sure they can go haywire too but that is not a signal for government to take upon every bloody business for itself. Governments job is to govern not do business. You can bring out policies to regulate businesses.

Workers will be same those kaamchor babus will remain same only management changes. So why not bring reforms in PSU management. Hire few MBA grads from IIMs and CA experts. At now PSU management is governed by non management grads like IES IAS officers who are permanent employees of GoI not the employees of those PSUs.

Privatization of public sector undertakings 1 - unlock the capital in corona. As some is seeing loose because of less infusion of technology and capital. 2- buy some other which can assure the profit and employment. 3-optimal utilisation is not taking place. As tax payer money is wasted in bailing out these enterprise's. 4- air india failed find capital, used in corona time. But it expected by every cooperation. 5- two macro message- ( Maximum governance minimum government) ( Self reliant) 6- maruti was govt developed but now it's totally privatised. And pay a lot of taxes. 7- privatization is not divestment. Where govt give upto 50% to 100% shares. 8- keeping air india running is erosion of money and loss of it value.

Its about collective ownership not about asset creation for few industrialist. It cannot get worse when government starts selling its stake in profit making PSUs just to cover their Revenue Shortfall and not using money to revive other sick PSUs. Use Janta ka paisa(tax collection) to janta ki sewa (subsidies) But don't use earning from selling PSUs to fund your subsidies. In this way after few years you won't be left with any asets you will only left with a Stick of law Enforcement and a carrot of Sovereign Guarantee. You will not have any assets to match with your guarantees. I was wondering a day will come when government will borrow money from public on mortgage of Parliament building in the name of land monetization. So how can we estimate the growth of a Government Department like income tax department. With revenue shortfall, should we privatisate them to have better efficiency. Well i sounds stupid and yet Britishers tried to do so by hiring Zamindars. You don't always measure the importance of an asset in terms of money it fetches, Other parameters are 1)strategic importance 2)presence in Remote Areas 3) importance in delivering welfare schemes 4)trust 5)csr

i think privatization can't be long term solution however we can achieve short term goal . 1- it can solve government revenue shortage problem . 2- as we see some psu not working properly . by privatization may be there working will improve . quality will improve . but - 1- privatization can't be solution for government revenue in long term . what will happen when we have no public entity to sell . so government should come to the other options for its revenue . 2- privatization may be affect government policies in long term . They can make cartel and can influence govt . 3- privatization is based on profit they don't care about welfare state . so as our constitution declares we are the welfare state how will we manage this . 4- privatization of strategic importance psu may not be good option ,as we know they are important for our security sustainability . what will happen when any private entity will leakage official secrecy . 5- privatization during covid may not get proper bidder. solution privatization of some psu can be done but we have to look other revenue resources . privatization cant be option for government revenue options. we should rethink policy making of privatization of strategic importance units, we want to privatize air india but in this covid situation and any other catastrophic situation it helped us .

Profit profit profit...like seriously no one of the panel member...or rather many people seriously don't feel the need of making a point of investing in the people who run these companies, eventually people run company not the infrastructure or to specify any of the sectors, just look out for the entry level in these companies, the efforts put by students to get here... Invest in people there are heavy minded people who have high levels of IQ as they qualify enough to run heavy business...sadly no one cares in investing in the people...but selling the infrastructure.

A one sided debate with people trying to convince privatization as the need of the hour. How can a distressed sale just to cover a revenue shortfall will help? In long run it wont be beneficial . Mr. Singh tried to show the problems faced by the public sector, the reason behind their failure but again backed by the favour of privatisation. Why not we can have the reforms in that area so that Public Sector can be utilized with full efficacy.
